Hey guys! *waves* So I'm updating again and I would like to apologize for the terrible and horrible long wait. I SWEAR IT KILLED ME NOT UPDATING I JUST NEVER HAD TIME. So just to be fair, this one is kind of long. However it is kind of emotional. Which I seem to do a lot. Huh. Also I stopped the weird tabbed paragraphs because the comments didn't fit it, so comment away and thanks for the support! Love you all! CIAO!
- Quilinteen NewcastleNico hummed to himself as he read, not paying as much attention to the book as he should have. His emotions felt like they were all crumpled and soggy, so his whole body and switched to a weird happy default mode to deal with his absolute confusion.
Which was weird. Because Nico never had a default happy mood. He had a default grumpy mood and a default emotionless mood. Never happy. Really ever.
But Nico wasn't in charge anymore, something had switched him around and left him in complete disarray. Something was making him feel anxious and worried and happy and excited. Or maybe it was someon-
"Hey Nico." Nico looked up from his book and threw it across the room in the same second. The blond in the door dodged the paged missile and frowned. "Wow, someone's a bit defensive."
"Will," Nico stated, like it wasn't already clear who it was.
"Yeah, death boy," he pointed to himself, "Will. Your doctor." He wheeled in a medic cart. "The doctor giving you a checkup." He pushed the squeaky cart over to the bed side.
"Oh," Nico breathed and then slipped out from under his covers and sat on the edge of the bed. "Let's get this over with then." Will laughed and draped a stethoscope around his neck, turning around to face Nico.
"It's a checkup, not torture Ghost King," he chuckled and then put the stethoscope in his ears. Nico sat up straighter and he placed the other end on his chest, checking the beat with the watch on his wrist.
"With you I can never be sure, sunshine," Nico retorted and glanced at Will's face. "And I didn't think you knew about my royal title."
Will retracted the stethoscope with a smirk and picked up one of the little wooden popsicle sticks. "Nico, it's impossible to not know your the Ghost King. I mean, honestly, there isn't anyone able to match your abilities. You're freaking scary sometimes." He paused and quickly added, "And I mean that as kindly as possible." After a quick inspection of Nico's mouth, he moved on to breathing checkup.
"We almost done here, doctor?" Nico asked, swinging his legs as Will leaned over his cart and recorded data.
Will turned and smiled, "Not quite, Nico. This is a medical procedure, you can't rush it."
With a scoff Nico stopped swinging his legs. "You sure can, sunshine. I've seen you do it on another guy. Took you like four minutes." He leaned forward to look at the notes scratched on Will's paper, but the doctor pushed them farther away.
"You can't blame me for wanting to spend a little more time with my favorite patient, di Angelo. Now shut up, I'm working." Will went back to his data and finished his notes while Nico pursed his lips and tried to not blush. "Done," Will announced finally with a flourish of his pen. He turned to Nico and extended his hand to him. "Want to come see something amazing?"
Nico rolled his eyes and pushed off the bed, refusing the outstretched hand. "If it's another medical procedure, then no. I think I've had enough doctor today." Will turned and walked beside him as they exited the room.
"Aw, don't say that death boy." He grabbed Nico's hand and spun him before he could react. When Nico fell into Will's arms the doctor grinned and added, "I know you love me," with a little laugh. Nico's breath hitched and he pushed himself out of Will's arms quickly enough.
