I growled down at the silver haired halfbreed, who seems a bit perturbed but eager to fight. The rest of the party backed up a bit, the demon slayer woman readying her weapon, and the priestess notching an arrow on her bow.
My eyes focused on the object of my aggression: Tetsaiga.
"Time-old foe... I'll break you..!" I snarled, leaping down from the tree. He swung the sword down as soon as I'd landed on the ground, and I caught it with my hand. He seemed a bit surprised, especially when my blood began to run down my hand. Some people just can't comprehend my high pain tolerance. "What the?!"
I stood up slowly, pushing back on the sword and forcing him to step back. Raising my other hand, I hit the side of the blade, targeting the very faint wave pattern. He jumped back as the sword made a horrible ringing noise. My hands went to my sides, thick blood running down my right hand.
"Inuyasha... Isn't this the demon the village wanted us to catch?"
My growls subsided a bit, and I looked over at the demon slayer. The village..?
Suddenly, I heard children's voices, and my anger seemed to vanish as the children of the village ran toward me. "There you are, Hotaro-sama!"
"Hotaro-sama, teach me how to spin my top!"
"Look look, I can whistle now!"
The group stood back awkwardly, putting away their weapons as I crouched down, the children swarming around me with smiling faces. I didn't smile or anything, just looked at them warmly and listened to what they had to say. Of course, I hid my hand, so they wouldn't try at treat my injury, only to be contaminated and die.
Inuyasha stepped forward once the children had all run off at a small prompting from me. "Oi, are you really a demon?" I looked over at him tiredly, then sighed and began walking after the children. "Of course, you filthy halfbreed.." He stiffened angrily, but the priestess stopped him with a sharp call of his name. However, I was not actually going to be with the children.
It was time for me to leave.
---------------------------------------------I walked along the worn trail through the forest, the cool air of the night soothing the soft burning of my wound. I'd bandaged it up for now, but it still hurt a bit. I can feel pain, but sometimes it just doesn't affect my judgement.
I paused upon coming to the edge of a lake, and looked up at the moon hanging low above it. The moonlight on the still water and the gentle breeze playing with my inky black hair was soothing, and I suddenly felt at peace with myself and the world. Nothing mattered right now, and I was the only one in existence at this moment. The next thing I knew, my voice was raised in a soft song that the wind carried gently across the nearby lands.
I look at you now...
Your silver hair...You look at me when..
I stop and stare...But do you know me?
Do you trust me?
No, you can only shun me for what I am...I look at you now..
The fallen corpse...You look at me when..
My blood is yours..Dear little friend of mine~
How do you know my name?
How can you look at me and smile? When all I've done is look at them..
When all you do is look at me...Please stay by my side....
Please do not leave me with my mistakes!....I look at me now...
My midnight hair......you look at me when...
I am not there..How can you know me, my time old friend?
How could you save me, from my own end?I cannot live now, you cannot stop me
For all that you've seen has never been me!I look at you now...
Your angry scowl...You look at me in...
My final hour...My voice didn't not waver, but even I could feel my sorrow pouring into the words that the wind now carried on to do as it wished with. And yet, even so, I did not cry, and did not hesitate with my words.
As the song ended, so did my tranquility. I turned from the beautiful sight and continued on my way. Time waits for no one; I had already wasted much.
But as I continued down the shadowed path, the last lyrics of the song is made ages ago echoes in my brain.
I look at you now...
My only love...You cannot see me...
My only love..Dear blood, how could you do this to me? How could you sit there as I grieve? How could you kill those I touch, and push everything away.....?
My only heart...
