"I just feel like such a a... Fail." Ian zips up his suitcase, looking pissed and sad at the same time.
"I know. We all do. One day they'll realize their mistake, even if it costs them lives and the park." I put my hair in a clip. "Come on, I can see the helicopter coming in."
"Why is it that every time I get on one of those, it's about some damn dinosaurs?" Ian grumbles and walks out the door, dragging his suitcase.
"There was that one time when we visited... Never mind that was Sorna. I don't know, I guess you've got dinosaurs on the brain." I say, and he looks back at me.
"What, what did you say? Did Alan tell you that?" His expression is very curious.
"I said you've got dinosaurs on the brain. And no, Alan didn't tell me, his book did. Not about you, about him. He said he's got dinosaurs on the brain. I just figured I would say it. Why?" I explain.
"Oh okay. No reason, it's just weird he remembered that and put it in a book. It's weird I remember that. Hmmm." He continues walking.
"I think you've been traveling a bit too much. Let's just go home." I walk faster, ready to go back home before shit hits the fan. Alan and Ellie meet us by the helipad. Ian says goodbye and I suddenly feel a little bit jealous. They have such a history together! I was on Sorna with Ian, but they were the Originals. I can never be that. Then there's he and Ellie. They had a thing, I know it. That doesn't matter though. Ian and I have our own thing now.
"Doctors, are you ready?" Someone shouts, interrupting my thoughts.
"Yeah! Let's go Sarah!" Ian yells, pulling me. We get in and take off.
"I think this is the happiest, least dangerous time we've left the island." I say.
"Oh my God there's a a Rex running at the chopper." Ian points out the window.
"What?! No no no- Ian there's nothing there." I frown at him.
"I know. Scared you though didn't I?" He snickers.
"Asshole." I look out the window again, just in case.
"I really hope this uh park works out. Honestly. Enough lives have been lost because of of dinosaurs." He doesn't seem like he thinks it will.
"Hopefully, hon. Hopefully." I pat his knee and he smiles at me.
~~~~~~~2015~~~~~~~
"Come on! Live a little." I point at the T.V. which is playing another commercial for Jurassic World.
"That's exactly what I want to do, is is live. Why do you think I don't want to go to death?! If we go, and something bad uh inevitably happens, who's gonna have to start saving asses? Me! Cause I've been on the uh Islands of Death three god damned times!" Ian stomps out.
"I'm booking us for June... 13th. That's a week from now." I finalize the room and everything, when a box pops up. "We have 2 V.I.P. Passes open. Would you like them?" I click yes, obviously, and Ian comes back in.
"What did you do?!" He stares at the screen.
"Booked us a trip to Jurassic World." I say sweetly, and kiss his hand.
"I'm not going." He crosses his arms.
"Well I'm going. And if your not, then I'm going unprotected and alone to another island full of dinosaurs." I sigh, sounding pitiful.
"Damn it! Fine I'll go, but only because you need someone to to hold your hand." He says, taking my hand.
"I do not!" I snap it back.
