Chapter 1

-Nia-

I stared at the clock on the wall as I tapped my pen against my desk anxiously. There was only a few minutes left in the day but it seemed to be dragging on forever as the second hand slowly spun round and round. Finally the bell rang, signaling the end of junior year and the beginning of summer. Chairs scraped against the floor as everyone jumped up from their desks. "Have a nice summer," Mr. Jones muttered to us without even looking up from his book.

The hallways were full of students who were just as eager as I was to start their summer break. I stopped in front of my locker and quickly spun in my combination. I had already cleaned out most of my things during the week, I just needed to grab a few last things. Before closing my locker, I stopped and looking at the pictures that were taped inside. It was crazy to look at the pictures from freshman year and think that I was going to be a senior in 2 and a half months.

I slammed my locker shut and was startled to see someone standing on the other side. "Sorry," Trey said. He bent down to pick up the papers I had dropped. "It's fine Trey. What's up?" I took the papers from him and stuffed them in my bag. "My parents are out of town, so I'm having a kickback at my place tonight. Everyone's sleeping over too. You in?" he asked. "I don't know, you know that's not really my type of thing. Plus I have a bunch of college things to get started on--"

"College? Nia, it's summer! I know that stuff is important since we're going to be seniors. but come on. You have plenty of time to get it done. Just come out tonight, it'll be fun."

"Trey..." I started.

"Please? For me?"

I sighed and folded my arms. "Fine, I'll come."

A huge smile spread across his face as he picked me up and spun me around. "You're the best," he said when he put me down. "I know," I replied. "So be there at like 6 and bring a swimsuit and whatever you need to sleepover. Okay?"  I nodded slowly and watched him walk away. What was I getting myself into?
