-Justin-
"Where are you going?" Chantel asked as I stood up and pulled my shirt over my head.
"I'm gonna hop in the pool for a while," I replied.
I took a small step back before running toward the pool and jumping in. Tons of water splashed upward as I sank to the bottom of the pool. I opened my eyes and saw millions of bubbles rising around me. I let my body float back toward the surface, the music becoming louder as my head rose from the water.
"Was that really necessary?" I heard a voice behind me snap. Turning, I saw Nia floating on a pool chair, an irritated look on her face. I swam over to her, resting my arms on the edge of the chair. "Oh lighten up, it's a pool. You're supposed to get wet," I said. She just rolled her eyes and leaned back, closing her eyes. I jerked my arm through the water, causing it to splash on her thighs.
"Justin stop."
I did it again and she opened her eyes. "I said stop." She pushed water in my direction, splashing me in the face.
"Oh it's like that huh?" I continued splashing her and she splashed back. It quickly turned into a water fight and I grabbed her legs, pulling her into the water. "No stop!" she laughed as I picked her up and held her over my head. She kicked her legs and squealed everytime I swung her down quickly and stopped her right above the water.
"Put me down!"
Finally, I lowered her until she was standing upright in the pool again. We just stared at each other for a moment before she spoke. "Uh--I'm gonna go get something to eat..." I just watched her as she walked toward the steps and got out, grabbing her towel on the way.
"JUSTIN!"

I dried off and went into the house, not sure what to think about what had just happened. It was almost as if I enjoyed playing in the pool with Justin and didn't want it to end. There was just something about him that--no wait. That was crazy. Justin was a player and everyone knew it. I didn't like him, I was just caught up in the moment. It happens sometimes..right?
Diggy was sitting at the island eating and fiddling on his phone. "Excuse me," was all I said as I reached past him to grab the hot dog buns. For as long as I could remember, I had the biggest crush on Diggy. I would never forget the first time I ever saw him at freshman orientation. He was a bit nerdy with his braces and chubby cheeks, but weren't we all? Plus that didn't matter to me, there was just something I liked about him. I watched as he began to mature between freshman and junior year, ditching the braces and the baby fat and becoming a handsome young man. He had always been a people person, but his popularity soared through the roof as the years went by. We hung around the same group of people, but I was too shy to ever really say more than two words to him. But, my feelings for him never changed.
I sat down, leaving an empty chair between Diggy and I. "You can sit there," he said. I looked up to see him looking at me. "Oh..." I moved over and sat next to him. "Any plans for the summer?" he asked. "Uh, just college applications and trying to find a job basically. You?"
"The same, but of course I'm gonna party too."
I nodded as it fell silent again. The sounds of music and people shouting while they splashed around in the pool drifted in from outside. "So..." I had no idea what to say. How do you talk to the person you've liked for four years but have never said anything to?
"You have really nice teeth," Diggy said. I gave him a weird look but mumbled a thank you.
"I'm sorry, that probably sounded weird."
"A little," I giggled.
"I guess that was my way of saying I think you're really cute."
I looked at him in shock. Did he just say he thought I was cute? A small smile appeared on my face and I felt heat rising to my cheeks.
"Oh really?"
"Yup."
"Well then I guess saying that I think your ears are cute is my way of saying that I think you're really cute," I said. He chuckled and shifted in his seat so that our knees were touching.
"How about a game of Chicken in the pool?" he asked.
"Sure."
I got up and followed him outside. Could this day get any better?
