Before the wishes begin

Maggie's POV
"I'm sorry ma'am, but you only have six more months to live" was the last thing I heard before everything went blurring as tears filled my eyes.

I was gonna die in six months, I couldn't believe it.

My mom who was beside me was crying with me as we heard the news together. She has been by my side since the start of all of this and now it's all gonna end.

Even with everything happening I was still like any other teenager. I go to school, eat pizza, watch nexflix, and all that good stuff. I'm currently in grade 10. My best friends are Beth and Abby, I've known them since I was in grade one, but we were never close until grade4. Only they and my family of course know about my situation.

Beth has perfect tanned skin with green eyes with specks of yellow and light brown hair that goes all the way down to her waist.

Abby is basically the colour of paper with red coloured hair and dark brown eyes.

Me, I have blonde hair with blue eyes.

But all of us were known as our schools nerds.

I woke up to the same annoying sound of my alarm as I slapped my hand over it causing the beeping to stop. I lazily rolled out of bed as I made my way to the bathroom.

After washing my face and brushing my teeth I did my make up. I little mascara and lip balm and I was about done. As for my outfit I slipped on my favourite pair of lulu lemon tights and a light pink hoodie. I put on some matching light pink high knee socks. I grabbed my big nerd glasses that were on my side table as I left my room.

I was down stairs and mom, like usual was probably already gone and had went to work. Which means I have to figure out breakfast.

I searched through my fridge looking for food, I ended up just having froot loops. They were my favourite no need to judge.

I put on my plain black vans as I went out my door.

I walked to school meeting Beth half way like usual. The we meet up with Abby before going through the double doors of jail..oh did I say jail I meant hell.

Being the nerds wasn't easy but, at one point u get used to being shoved into the lockers.

Me, Beth and Abby split up and go to our lockers that were unlucky far part from each other.

I rushed the ought the halls trying to avoid eye contact with anyone. But before I knew it I was shoved to the ground. I looked up and saw him. Matthew Espinosa. I may have a small crush on him but, he's the schools bad boy. We used to be close but then he left me around grade 7 to hang out with other people. And now he's popular and I'm not, I don't think he even know I exist anymore, now in days we simply just hate each other.

Me and him made eye contact as my knees did the same to the floor. Every time I can still get lost in him perfect chocolate brown eyes. And his perfect hair and his perfect smile and his- urrghh stap Maggie! I can't even right now.

History class
This was the only class I had with the devil, by the devil I mean Matthew. At least it was history I could use a good nap.

I felt myself dosing off until I feel someone lightly tap on my shoulder. I turned my head only to see Matthew. Urrghhhhh.

"I think you should pay attention, we have some type of project" he says motioning towards the teacher.

Why was he even telling me this, why does he care if I miss this or not?

"Um thanks I guess." I said flatly. Them turning my head to the teacher to listen.
"The project is going to be a timeline on our history from 1240-1450" he said. My jaw practically dropped, I hated doing projects like this.

"You will also be in partners, that I will choose of course" he said giving a big smile.

I crossed my fingers as he started to read out two names at a time, "please not Matthew please not Matthew." Was all repeated in my head

"Maggie and..." Anyone but Matthew" I thought squeezing my fingers tighter. "Matthew"

You have got to be kidding the one person, one that I didn't want to be with for this project I'm stuck with.

I immediately raise my hand waving it around like a bafoon.
"Yes, ms.maggie" he said
"Is it possible to change our partners in any way" I said

"Maggie sometimes your gonna have to work with people you don't want to, but you still do"

"This is insane I can't work with him!" I said raising my voice and pointing directly at Matthew.

"You will learn to work with him!" He said raising his voice and I slowly sat back down.

I let out a sigh as I sunk into my chair. I attempted to fall asleep when the school bell rang.

You've got to be kidding me. Today is just not my day.

Lunchtime
I met up with Beth and Abby as we went to buy our lunch. Mine usually consist of chicken fingers and fries where Beth and Abby have salad. Although I eat a lot I stay skinny, I guess I have a fast metabolism.

On the way to our table I caught the glimpse of an angel, Dante. He was the school football star. He probably didn't even know I exist. We barely talk other then whenever he bumps into me in the halls and says sorry.

"Maggie you're staring again" Beth says tugging on my arms breaking my out of my stare
"Sorry.." I said blushing a bit
We continued walking until we reached our signature table. We sit here alone every lunch.

"So..six more month huh?" Abby said breaking the silence
"Um.yeah" I said with a tone of sadness
"We're gonna miss you" Beth said as tears filled all of our eyes.
"I'm sorry guys" I said letting out a sob
"It's not your fault cancer chose you"
"I just wish it didn't" I said wiping the tears of my eyes.
