Adam needed some time to think.

He made an excuse to the bed-ridden Eve, and went on a long walk from his house. He walked to Ryan's burned out home. He walked to Garamond's home. He even made his way to the park, and finally, to the school. He thought a lot about what he learned from his memories. Of the things that had happened up until now. He understood a lot of things now - things people had perhaps tried to warn him of. But it was all for naught.

He knew. In his mind, he knew what the future would hold. He knew it could only end one of two ways. So before it came to that, he made a decision.

Adam sighed, and walked back to his house.

Cain waited for him in the entrance hall. "Nice night, right?"

Adam nodded. "It is."

"Eve's going to be ok. The knife didn't go in too far."

Adam shook his head. "You can stop pretending. I know. You probably stabbed her yourself, to get me to attack my friends. It was probably Eve's own idea."

"Why do you think that?" Cain replied.

"If Eve was really in danger, you wouldn't have left her side to come get me. If she was mortally injured, you would have taken her with you," Adam replied.

Cain shrugged. "You got me there."

"I figured as much."

"For what it's worth," Cain said. "They really did have us on the ropes."

Adam nodded, and walked passed him. "I'm not angry. I just wish she would have trusted me to defend her without resorting to a gimmick."

He walked up the stairs and to his bedroom, to see Eve resting. She woke up as he opened the door, and sat up, smiling at him.

He smiled back. Despite knowing what the future had in store, he knew that he had to enjoy these moments. That was what he decided.

"Just think," she said with a smirk. "Only one more Saint to go, then we can save the planet and have a peaceful life! I'm thinking we move in to Baum's old forest home together."

"Before all of that, there's something I want to... no, need to do." He said.

She looked at him puzzled. "What is it?"

"I want to go out with you. For a date. I know the timing is a little bit off but that's why. We've had nothing but violence for months. I love you Eve, but I haven't really had much time to remember what that feels like lately."

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"I don't love you because you're a skilled warrior. I don't love you because you're the Seed. I love you because you're a sweet, wonderful girl. And it's that cute and quirky personality that I fell for. I want a day to get that back. I want a day where we can be ourselves again, without putting on this warrior facade." Adam walked closer as he spoke, and sat on the edge of the bed.

Eve nodded, and smiled, kissing his cheek. "You're right. We need this. We need to have a couples day."

That night, Adam and Eve slept cuddled together in the bed. And when the morning came, Adam woke her up with a gentle kiss.

She sluggishly rubbed her eyes and kissed him back, smiling. They got up, showered, and dressed casually. Eve did her make up and hair, and when she was done, she came out looking like an ordinary teen girl - albeit a particularly beautiful one.

Adam, for his part, combed his hair nicely, shaved, and ended up looking quite handsome himself. His constant fighting did well for his physique. He briefly looked at a picture of himself hung up on the walls of the house. He almost didn't recognize himself.

Eve took his arm, and they walked out of the house together. The quakes had most of the town out of commission, but they found that the mall was still in perfect working order. They ended up there, grabbing a relaxing lunch in the food court, and walked over to the jewellery store.

Adam picked out a beautiful gold necklace with a heart, and bought it for her, putting it on her himself. They then stopped at the clothing store, picking up new shoes for her; nice black ones that suited her well. Afterwards, he took her to the pond, where they had gone once before. And he walked right to the edge of the water, and turned to face her.

He told her how beautiful she was to him, and how precious she was. She blushed, and he kissed her. They then sat at the water's edge, holding hands and dipping their feet in the pond.

As the sun started to set, Adam and Eve walked home hand in hand. There was an underlying tension building between them; every kiss seemed to linger longer than the last. They started walking a little faster, flirting back and forth a little.

They barely made it back to Adam's room before he was pouncing on her, hungrily kissing and touching her. And they ended up having a passionate - and long - night together, falling asleep nude in each others arms.

The next morning they woke up and continued to cuddle. Adam seemed distant though. Concerned, Eve asked him if he was ok.

"Get dressed," he replied. "We're ending this today. We're going after Fate."
