"I'm going for a walk." Alec spat as he grabbed his jacket and walked out the door. He made sure to slam it extra hard. He just got into a fight about immortality with Magnus, again. Lately, it's all Alec has been able to think about. How many people had Magnus been with and was Alec just a passing phase? He just needed to go for a walk and cool off for a bit.

The Brooklyn streets were surprisingly empty. The street lamps flickered and the wind rose the hairs on the back of Alec's neck. He stuffed his hands into his pockets and kept walking. He kept expecting to see someone, but no one was out. Everything was so eerie.

Alec's hand flew to his seraph blade when he heard a blood curdling scream from up ahead. He squinted his eyes to try and see where the noise was coming from but he couldn't see much with only the street lamps to light the street. He did see an old abandoned building towards the end of the street. He ran up to the building and saw that it was practically falling apart. Dead leaves littered the entry way and a murky puddle of some foul substance lay inside the foyer or, at least, that's what Alec thought it was.

There was another blood-curdling scream and this time, Alec knew where it was coming from. It was coming from inside the building. A sense of urgency washed over him and he pushed his way inside. There was a winding stairway with old and peeling white paint to the top floor in the foyer. Alec ran towards it and grabbed the banister. It shook from his weight and crumbled to the ground. Alec flinched from the noise, but tried not to let it deter him.

He climbed the old, winding steps to the sound of terrorized screams. Once he reached the top of the staircase, he saw a dark corridor. Lining the corridor were doors barely hanging on to their hinges and splintered, wooden floors.

"Aaahhgg!! Help me...!" The gurgled screams were coming from the door closest to where Alec was standing. He darted through the doorway and immediately stopped in his tracks. There were children dressed in rags and covered in dirt and blood. Their eyes were black as the night sky and Alec's heart dropped. There were about five of them in this room alone. They stared at him and smiled with their rotten teeth, fresh blood dripping from them.

Behind them, Alec spotted a young girl in a ripped blue dress. She was about five years old and held a teddy bear in here arms. Her throat had been ripped out and her dead eyes stared back at him. Alec pulled out his seraph blade and held it in front of him. The demon children darted towards him and he turned to run for the staircase, only there were about six demon children waiting for him at the top of the stairs.

There were too many for him to fight off on his own. He ran down the dark and dusty corridor, but every room he passed there were more demon children. They all stared at him with their black eyes, like dark, empty pits. He couldn't even reach any windows to jump out of. He was trapped.

"There's no where to run little shadowhunter." A demon child with blond hair and black lips whispered while she licked blood off of her bottom lip.

She tilted her head and closed her eyes, as if savoring the taste. She smiled and opened her black eyes. "I wonder if you'll be more of a screamer than that little girl was."

She took one step towards him and, as if it was her signal, the other demons all ran straight for him. They ripped and tore at his clothes and skin. Soon, blood was running down his body. His parabatai rune was glowing as black nails tore at the skin around it. Alec tried fighting back, but there were too many of them. He was going to die here in this demon orphanage, just like that poor, little girl.

Jace woke up screaming and clutching his parabatai rune. Something was wrong very wrong. Clary was screaming and trying to find out what was wrong but Jace could hardly notice her. He was too engulfed by the pain he felt, the burning and terror. He managed to get out one stuttered word, though. "A-alec..."

Clary's eyes became wide. "I'll go get help!" She grabbed her jacket and seraph blade and darted out the door to go get Isabelle. They needed to find Magnus, because if they found Magnus, they would find Alec.

The corner's of Alec's vision began to spot and his breathing became shallow. The weight of the demon children felt so heavy and the stench of blood was very strong. He slashed out as much as he could with his seraph blade. No and then he would hit a target and they would scream in pain. But that only caused them to become more aggressive, especially after he killed a few.

Alec tried to crawl out from under them but they were too heavy. He didn't even stop to think about why, but suddenly the demon's were lighter. Most of them had stopped attacking him and he was able to crawl out from the grasp of the few that still held on. He spotted a window with ripped, dust-stained curtains blowing in the wind. He crawled as quickly as he could, never looking back. He needed to get out, even if it killed him. It was his only chance.

He put his foot on the window sill and pulled himself up. The night wind brushed his face and he felt so free. He couldn't see very well; his vision was still pretty spotty. He could still tell that it was a long ways down. He hesitated for a minute, but then he heard the demon children grunting and screaming behind him. He jumped and the wind now slapped his face. It was not a gentle fall. His stomach dropped and he felt cold. This was it, he told himself. He only wished that he had told Magnus he loved him.

Suddenly, he slowed down. He became lighter, as did the night. There was some kind of blue glow to the night. Had he died? Why did he not feel the impact? Slowly, he was brought to the ground and laid into the dead, scattered leaves. His head gently fell to the side and blood dripped onto the leaves.  He heard a gasp and saw brightly colored pants kneel next to him. He lifted his eyes and saw golden, green cat eyes. Magnus.

He woke up in white, cotton sheets and wrapped up in bandages. Wearily, he lifted his head and saw Magnus fast asleep in the chair next to his bed. "Magnus..."

Magnus lifted his head and wiped the drool off of his chin. "Oh, your'e awake. How do you feel?" He asked, grabbing Alec's hand and scooting closer.

"Tired...And sore." Alec croaked. "What happened?"

"Jace's parabatai rune told him that you were dying. Clary and Isabelle came to find me and explained to me the situation. I used a tracking spell to find you." He took a deep breath and sighed as he recalled the night before. "We got there just in time too. You were swaying in the window and then you jumped. I barely had enough time to slow you down with my magic. You were already so close to dead. Luckily, I could save you, but I almost couldn't. Those demons just tore you to shreds."

Alec stared at Magnus who was on the verge of shedding tears."Wow."

"I don't know w-what I would've done without you Alec. Especially after the way we left things. It's just that, I love you, Alec."

"I love you too. And I'm sorry for the way things left off yesterday."

Magnus smiled. "Just try not to get yourself killed again."

"Okay." Promised Alec as he closed his eyes, again. Slowly, he drifted back to sleep. Magnus kissed his hand and stood up to leave so he could let him rest. It had been a long night for all of them.
