Chapter 5

Mitch's POV

"I'm sorry but Jessica Hughes is in a coma." I swear my heart stopped for about five seconds. "C..... coma?" My voice was soft, even sounded broken. "How did she get in a coma?" "Doctors say it was stress." Stress? What stress.... me. I caused this. "Can I go see her?" I ask. "Yes she's in room 567."

I walk inside and see Jess on the hospital bed, laying peacefully, her chest slowly rising up and down. She would have looked like she was sleeping exapt for the tubes and wires coming out of her. I see Sophia and Jasper huddling next to Lachlan. Justin was next to Jess, holding her hand. "Hey Mitch." Justin says, his voice trembling. I stand next to Jess and tears leave my eyes. I don't bother to wipe them away because Jess deserved a thousand tears from me for everything I've done to her. "Come on kids leave Mitch with Jess." I watch as everyone leaves, including Jerome, Adam, and Ian. I grab her hand and squeeze it lightly.

Jess's POV
Darkness. That's all I saw. I felt someone grab my hand and squeeze it. It wasn't a hard squeeze like they were trying to hurt me, more of a gentle touch that only meant care and love. At first I thought Justin, but then I hear quiet sobs. They weren't Justin's, I heard his far to often, but they sounded like......Mitch.
"Jessica I don't know if you can hear me, but I've got nothing to lose." He took a shaky breath. "I'm so proud of you. You made it through this hellish world and you have two children who love you. I'm so sorry about making you leave. I was so stupid to make my pride and joy leave my life. I'll always love you, my baby gurl." Sobs drown out what he said next, but I didn't need to hear any more. I needed to wake up. For Jasper, Sophia, Justin, Lachlan, the guys, and Mitch.
