As I helped Mackenzie to squeeze past asshole(his name until I decide)'s seat to let her go to the bathroom, he sighed and pulled his legs back.

As Mackenzie hopped off to the bathroom, I looked at him. "Problem?"

He met my eyes for a second before setting his magazine down. "This is like the fifth time she had to pee. We haven't even been on the plane for an hour yet."

I gave him a look. "You've been at least three times. You can't say anything."

He looked hurt. "I have a small bladder, okay?"

I laughed. "Well so does she, she's six."

This shut him up and he shrugged, reading his magazine again. That was until Kenzie needed to be back through, which made him roll his eyes.

I lifted her into her seat and she went back to colouring. I put her earphones in and she hummed along, which caught Billie's attention. "What's she listening to, like kid stuff?"

I scoffed. "She's listening to The Smiths."

His eyebrows shot up. "They're one of my favourites. And you're a liar. She'll have no idea who they are."

"Ask her." I shrugged.

He nudged her when she took her earphones out and then spoke. "What are you listening to?" He asked.

"This Charming Man." She replied. "By The Smiths. Do you know them?"

Billie blinked. "Damn, kid." He leaned back in his seat and went silent, setting his magazine down.

After a while I noticed his breathing slowing down and I peeked at him. He was dozing off, his head leaning towards me. I stayed silent, watching the TV again and suddenly I felt his head on my shoulder, and he we now fully asleep.

Fucking fabulous.

Mackenzie giggled, chewing her pen. "Nasty man is sleepy."

"I know sweetie. So we have to be quiet."

As I watched him, I observed that the guy looked like he hadn't slept for a week. I figured he was at least 40 something, but his friends looked younger.

His hair was a mess and the parts of his arms that I could see were covered in tattoos.

His ring finger still showed an indent of a ring.

Ah, now I see. Asshole was divorced. No wonder asshole was an asshole.

I decided it would be a good idea to stop staring at a stranger so I turned back to the TV and stayed this way until he woke up.
