A/N: I wrote this for a school project it's a short story. This is my first upload to wattpad so I'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks <3

One day while Athena was wandering around the grounds near Mount Olympus she saw a mortal sitting beneath an olive tree. She quickly hid behind the nearest bush as she felt her cheeks warm. She laughed, “I am a goddess,” she said, “I can have anyone I please, yet I choose a mortal.” Again her marvelous laugh rang out into the sky and the mortal stirred. When Athena heard this she quickly went back to the top of Mount Olympus making as little noise as possible.

Later that day, Aphrodite had the same encounter.  Athena, not knowing that Aphrodite had fallen in love with the same mortal, asked her for help to make her as beautiful as possible. Of course Aphrodite agreed to help her, but she had a plan brewing in her brain.

*****************************

The next day Aphrodite went to Athena’s room with all her beauty supplies. Aphrodite started with Athens hair; making it shine like it was made from strands of gold. Next she put make-up on her face; making her look flawless. Finally she gave her a stunning crimson dress, made from the finest material in the world. As Athena descended downward to where the mortal waited, Aphrodite sprinkled a dust over her that caused her appearance to change.

The mortal saw only an ugly beast descend from the sky. He ran and screamed and vowed to never come back to that garden. Athena sat and wept.

Aphrodite ran to Eros for help. She told him of her plan and that all he had to do was shoot the mortal with his love arrow and let him fall in love with her. Aphrodite was as beautiful as every, her hair shining like freshly polished gold and her dress the deep blue of the sea. The mortal saw her and was astonished, though not in love. Aphrodite then signaled Eros to shoot his love arrow. When he did they both were in love, but before anything more could happen Athena stood up and scared the mortal away. Athena was furious and shouted so that all could hear.

“You betrayed me Aphrodite! For this you will be cursed to forever lay in the garden at night with skin as pale as the moon beams and hair as dry as hay,” As soon as she said this it happened, “and Eros, for your assistance to Aphrodite,  you shall have the appearance of a baby forever!”

To this very day, Aphrodite stays in the garden of the sky at night, sometimes she weeps, and other times she walks and wishes that she had not tricked Athena. When she does weep, her tears fall through the sky as rain.

The moral of the story: Tricking people for what you want isn’t fair and karma will punish you in the long run. Next time you see it rain at night; remember the tears of Aphrodite in the garden of the sky.
