Welcome to my mind, like anyone else's it's a place where I keep my secrets my memories and my past, but more importantly it's where all my problems started.
You see I'm literally an ordinary girl in this boring realm of Midgard where magic and mystery is only present in books and stories and where growing up is something we are all expected to do once we reach a certain age. But for me I had never really wanted to grow up, no I wanted Peter Pan to sweep me off my feet and take me away to never land with the lost boys and the red skins. I had never really thought I would be victim to an amazingly terrifying event that is my sixteenth birthday.

It all started when I opened my eyes only to find a pair of identical bright blue eyes.
My mother who was basically the only parent I had was as eccentric and imaginative as I was, she usually called me mini me because we looked so alike.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE!!!" She screamed in my ear. I can tell you now that a wake up call like that was not something my heart could take lightly. My whole body jerked up and flailed around only to come in contact with the very friendly hard wood flooring.
"Ow.." I groaned and sat up, my bedding had become my undoing covering me in a cozy little cocoon. with the multiple blankets I slept with in this cold month of October I had to have seen it coming at one point.
"Morning mom." I said rubbing my eye and looking up to the buzzing bouncing lady that I called the giver of my birth.
"Morning sunshine, I made you morning brunch seeing as you couldn't get up in time for breakfast." My mom jokingly scolded me. I knew this because I could tell she had only woken up an hour ago.
" thanks mom." I said as I stretched my arms above my frizzy hair. "I'll be down in five." I yawned and closed my eyes smacking my lips to get the morning taste out of my mouth.
"Okay just don't take too long." She laughed at the face I made and left me to make myself Human again.
I twisted my covers off my legs and shivered when the cold air hit me.
I hated that part about living in Canada. You have your nice hot third degree sunburn sunny summers and then you have your cold frostbite under 12 blankets and a polar bear kinda winters.
My small feet padded along the cool wood floor and landed me I front of my dresser where I proceeded with my amazing morning routine of putting my signiture black as my soul leggings and a winter weather long sleeve gray shirt, and to top of my fantastic fashion choice a pair of big wool hunting socks and my favourite knitted fox hat with ears. See trend setter right here. I slowly opened my bedroom door and peered out seeing if there was anyone else awake, you see not only did I have one parent I had no siblings and to afford even living where we do my mom had to rent out 2 of the other bedrooms in the house.
No one seemed to be in their rooms meaning that both parties had already left the house for the day. I ran down the short hall slid into the wall and then proceeded to slide down the railing with ease, living here my whole life I had never really walked down the stairs, not exciting enough for me.

My feet landed loudly on the hollow sounding floor and I slid down towards the kitchen where I could smell the bacon.
"Is that bacon?!" I yelled entering the kitchen. My mom laughed her back towards me buttering toast.
"Yup I made all your favourites." She said smiling and putting two pieces of the newly buttered hot bread on my plate.
"So you opened an entire package of bacon for me?" I questioned her, you see my mom was a vegan born and raised on a farm she seemed to have lost her taste for anything with a heart beat.
"Ha are you complaining?" She asked me with a knowing look.
I just shrugged my shoulders.
"It's bacon." I said simply and shoved a portion into my waiting face.
Bacon.
My mother gagged silently at my actions my I just giggled and opened my mouth showing her half chewed pork flesh.
" that's nasty." She said as she got up to get the juice.
"I know but it's so good!!" I was practically swooning at bacon but I knew that was enough of that. Finishing my meal I looked at the time on the stove. the little red numbers flashed 11:47am meaning I officially had 13 minutes until I was actually sixteen. Mom had gotten up and walked behind the counter and opened one of the cabinets and pulled out a small wrapped box.
"I know it's not much but it was your great great very great grandmothers and it's been passed on from daughter to daughter on their sweet sixteen and today-" she looked at the box and smiled extending her arms out and handing me the package. "-I'm giving it to you."
I looked at the silver wrapping paper and stared at the box.
