I tried to keep my distance from her from then on. I only visited her about once a day. Over the next few days, I did my best to get detached from her. Whenever I was around her, I put on an emotionless facade and pretended I didn’t care about her. But at night, I would watch her on the monitor and picture her beside me.

One night after I checked on her, I had a visitor.

“Hello dear brother,” Luna smiled.

Laying on my bed was my arrogant sister. Her brown hair was pulled back in a ponytail. She wore a tight black leather jacket, skinny jeans, and knee-high black boots. It was obvious that she had just been out at a human club, taking advantage of the fact that alcohol doesn’t affect us like it does humans. I didn’t want to think of the amount of guys she’d screwed.

“What do you want?” I asked, leaning against the table.

“That Sariel’s girl?” she asked, pointing at the monitor behind me.

I glanced over my shoulder and nodded. “I’m not going to help you with your revenge scheme, sis.”

“Oh come on,” Luna whined. “Please. You know how much it hurt me when that son of bitch turned me down.”

I remembered all too clearly Luna’s anger when Sariel said he wasn’t going to marry her. Despite the fact his parents had made an agreement with our parents that Sariel and Luna would marry, his parents sided with him when he said he wouldn’t do it. Luna was pissed. She started raging, saying that he was an asshole and many other things that shouldn’t be said in polite company. Our parents felt disgraced and left the Seraphim, taking Luna and I with them. Luna took to the Grigori like a duck to water. I wasn’t so easy going about it. I had left my friends and everything I’d known behind. Believe it or not, back then Sariel and I were the best of friends. Then things changed.

“No,” I told Luna. “This is my revenge.”

“For what?” Luna asked. “What did Sariel ever do to you?” She jumped to her feet, walking towards me.

“What side are you on, Luna? Do you want Sariel to suffer or not?” I demanded, heating up.

“Then let me help! I can bring him down from the ground up!” Luna offered. We were practically nose to nose.

“As can I!” I yelled back at her.

“Really? It seems things are going quite dandy down here,” Luna shouted sarcastically.

I grabbed her arms just below the shoulders. Luna shifted uncomfortably. She opened and closed her fists, probably trying to regain feeling in them. I finally let her go and took a step back.

“Just go Luna,” I told her. “I don’t want nor need your help.”

“Whatever,” she grumbled, pushing past me and stalking out the door.

I watched the monitor to make sure she didn’t try anything with Kelsie. Ten minutes passed before I finally relaxed. Luna and I had never had the best relationship. It was made worse when we joined the Watchers. And it reached an all time peak when our parents chose me to take the throne over Luna, who was older. It had surprised me when Mom and Dad chose me to take over because our parents had always favored Luna. Throughout our entire childhood, Luna had always been given what she wanted while it didn’t matter what I wanted as long as I had a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and food in my stomach. It was harsh, but I grew used to it.

I looked back at the monitor to see Kelsie sleeping in the chair. I found myself wondering what her childhood was like. Were both her parents still alive or were they dead, like mine? How many boyfriends had she had? Did she have any pets while she was a kid? Was she an only child or did she have a self-absorbed sister who only wanted her to reach her own means? I wanted to talk to her and see what her life was like.
