Sienna held her three year old son’s hand as they stood waiting on her father’s front porch in the heat of her small hometown. Her father knew about her son but he didn’t approve of him. Of course, no one knew the full story. Wyatt was dressed up in a nice button up shirt he hated and a clean pair of Levi’s. She dressed nicely in a sundress and sandals. Their bags were still sitting in her car she’d driven in for the past 3 days to get here. Finally, the front door opened to reveal her older sister, Charlotte, who smiled politely as she opened the door.

“Hi, how can I help you?” Charlotte asked slowly and with a drawl.

Sienna squeezed Wyatt’s hand gently and spoke quietly. “Char, it’s me. This is my son, Wyatt.”

“I thought you looked familiar, sweetie. What are you doing here?”

“We decided it was time to come home.”

“We as in you and your husband?” Charlotte said looking over her shoulder.

“I’m not married.”

“I see.” Charlotte frowned.

“Who’s at the door?” A deep voice Sienna knew anywhere came from behind Charlotte. He came up beside Charlotte wearing a deep blue button up shirt and put his arm around her waist. He smiled when he saw Sienna and came around Charlotte to hug her.

“Sienna!” He chuckled as he hugged her.

“Eli.” Sienna smiled. ‘At least somethings never change,’ she thought to herself as she hugged him back.

“Who’s this little guy?” Eli asked smiling.

“My son, Wyatt. Wyatt, this is one of Mommy’s friends from school. His name is Eli.”

“How old are you, kiddo?” Eli squatted down and asked Wyatt.

“You talk funny.” Wyatt said.

“So do you.” Eli laughed, “You going to tell me how old you are, kid?”

“3.” Wyatt nodded.

“Babe, you going to let them in?” Eli asked turning to Charlotte.

Charlotte was quiet for a minute before holding the door open for them to enter. “Father is away until 5.”

“Thank you.” Sienna nodded.

They all went inside and sat in the living room. Charlotte glared at Sienna as she sat silent besides Eli. Sienna pretended it didn’t hurt but it did. Eli put his arm around Charlotte and smiled at Sienna. Wyatt looked at his mother and noticed her uncomfortable posture. Wyatt climbed onto her lap and sucked his thumb, something Sienna noticed he did as a nervous habit. She combed his hair over and kissed his head.

“How’s your ma and pa, Eli?” Sienna asked him softly.

“They’re doing good. Cooper has a new house, and Hudson proposed to his girlfriend.” Eli smiled thinking of each of them.

“You forgot about Logan.” Charlotte nudged him.

“Oh, yeah, Logan’s busy up at the ranch now.”

“That’s good to hear. What’s Hudson’s fiancé’s name?” Sienna asked Eli.

“You would know if you cared to come home when you got knocked up?  Or do you just care about you and no one else?” Charlotte snapped. Eli frowned at her and Sienna gasped.

“That’s what I thought.” Charlotte looked pleased with herself.

“Wyatt, get down from Mommy, please. We’re leaving now. Eli, it was great to see you again. Char…I mean Charlotte, its…goodbye.” Sienna said quietly. Wyatt got down and offered his hand to Sienna.
