He pulls the trigger, letting Shawn's blood splatter against the wall and Desiree screams.

He exhales, staring at the bloody wall as Desiree continues. "Is still not enough." He says, his voice devoid of emotion. "I do everything and is still not enough." He looks at Desiree, who had stopped screaming and was shaking at the sight. He lifts his gun, aiming it at her and pulling the trigger. Without another sound, Desiree's body drops, laying right beside Shawn's.

"Is not enough."

He drives back to the house, opening the door and slamming it close. Larry lifts his head up, wiping his nose clean of any white residue, him and Laurent meeting eyes. The two of them always had the same eyes. They were blank, emotionless.

"What you do?" Larry asks, leaning back into the couch, closing his eyes and waiting for his high to take over him.

"I kill Shawn and Desiree."

"That not help." Larry says, opening his eyes but not looking at him. Laurent wasn't sure if Larry was looking at anything to be honest. "Is not enough."

Laurent ignores him and walks to the kitchen, washing his hands.

Why would you wash your bloody hands in the kitchen? Laurent, you know better.

Laurent closes his eyes, fighting the feeling of tears. With a deep breath, he turns the water off and wipes his hands on his pants. He could feel her presence. And it was suffocating him.

Jeez, Lau. We have napkins.

"I'm going out." Laurent says, walking out the door, not letting Larry respond.

As if he would anyway. Larry was just staring into space, the drugs taking over him and his system. It was his escape.

Laurent wondered why Larry had to escape. From what? Did Larry hear her too? Hear her and feel her when he was doing something? Anything.

Laurent could be walking down the street and there she would be, her beautiful voice going on about what he needed to get from the store. Or tell him he should call Bambi and Jasmine to check up on them and the children. He never listened. He couldn't.

She was gone and no hallucination, no matter how bittersweet it was, could change that.

He looks down at the traffic. He didn't know how he got up here, but he was on the roof of a building. He didn't even know what building it was.

He wondered if he'd be able to see her if he jumped.

Don't.

He wanted to. He needed to. He needed to see her, to feel her, to hold her.

Lau, think about Larry.

Larry wouldn't be far behind. Everyone knew what Larry was doing. It was clear.

You need to stop him. Protect him.

"Why protect him? Is nothing here we need."

You need each other.

Laurent takes a closer step to the edge, looking down. "I miss you."

Laurent, please.

"I miss you so much, Melie."

Laurent, don't. Snap out of it. Please.

"I love you."

Don't do it Lau.

He closes his eyes. "Je vais vous voir bientôt mon frère." (I'll see you soon my brother.)

Silence. He couldn't hear anything but silence.

Laurent, wake up.

Larry's eyes shoot open and he looks around. "Lau?" his raspy voice asks. "Laurent?" He places his hand on his chest and closes his eyes, tears filling his eyes.

Larry, I'm sorry.

"You not real." He says, slowly, closing and rubbing his eyes.

I tried to stop it.

"Is not enough for you? You drive him crazy now me too?"

I didn't mean to.

"Shut up! You not real! Vous me rend fou! Vous n'êtes pas réel! Vous n'êtes pas réel!" (You're driving me crazy! You're not real!) He screams, getting up, a tornado of paranoia and hysteria, chanting those words over and over.

He could escape for good. Then Laurent won't be so alone.

Larry please.

He'd see her too. The real her. Not a fake, dreamed up apparition caused by drugs. Not something desperate to keep him in a state of insanity.

Larry, put it down!

He holds the gun up to his temple. If he made it quick, he wouldn't feel it as much.

Larry! Larry, stop! Please!

The scream rings through his head, shaking his being, but it didn't stop him. He was too gone. There wasn't anything he could really do.

There wasn't anything she could do either. They were what tied her to the earth, and without them, she had no purpose here.

She just wished they wouldn't be stuck for long.
