She lets out a breath. "I don't think-"

"Amelie Brielle Germain, if you don't put on this dress and go with this nigga on this fucking date." Desiree says, crossing her arms. "You've been working so hard, and he's been working so hard, both of you guys need a break and relieve some stress."

"Desiree."

"I'm being hella serious. We don't even have any serious threats anymore. We've become the biggest gang, once again and we don't have to worry about shit. So why is it that you're still planning and working your ass off, little Jazzie's ass off, and Baby Bi's ass off?" Desiree says, making Amelie smile at the nicknames.

"I'm not, I'm just... I need to make sure that-"

"Laurent is ready." Larry interrupts, knocking on the door.

"Now yo ass can't back out. Put on the fucking dress and don't make that nigga wait."

"But-"

"But nothing bitch, go out there and have a date and be with your nigga." Without another word, Desiree hands Amelie the dress. "You better get in that dress and go out on that fucking date."

"What about Larry?"

"Larry could do without his brother for a few hours. Little baby'll be fine."

-

"So... thanks for taking me out." Amelie says, looking down at the pasta nervously. "I've never really been on a date before." She chuckles, and Laurent smiles.

"You so nervous. Is cute."

"I'm not nervous." She says, looking around. "I'm just unsure of what to do. This is weird."

"We been together for months, and this the first time I take you out." He huffs. "I so disappointed in myself."

"It's okay. We've been busy."

"Is no excuse. If my maman was here, she'd scold me so much."

"I wish I could meet her." Amelie mutters, launching the two into silence. She coughs a bit. "Laurent, uhm-"

"You not hungry, huh?" He asks, looking down at the pasta she just pushed around.

"No, not really..."

"Me either." He says, shrugging a bit. The two sit in silence some more and Laurent flags down a waiter asking for the check. She's never felt so awkward around him before.

I guess now that her relationship with him is bought more into the light and people are now expecting the two to be romantic, it's just... weird. Before, it was just sweet pecks on the forehead, a kiss on the cheek, and then there would be the secret kiss on the lips. Nothing more. Stuff she could get over quickly.

Dates and all this extra stuff was just... something she wasn't used to. She wanted the simpler things, she guessed.

"Come." He says, getting up and grabbing her arm.

"Where are we going next?"

"Anywhere you want." He says, leading her to the car.

"A walk in the park maybe?" She says, and he nods.

"If it's what you want." He says, opening the door for her. She gets in, letting him close it behind her. "I not want this night to be bad for you."

"It wouldn't be." She shrugs. "Just... a little awkward."

"Is very awkward." He says, and the two laugh.

"I just... I don't know. Now that everyone knows, they just expect us to be some sort of power couple, and I... I don't know."
