Chemistry was going to kill. Absolutely kill. The only perk of this class was the simple fact that break (or "nutrition") was right after; and because assemblies and pointless spirit rallies started in the beginning of break, when those days would come, the teacher would dismiss us earlier than scheduled. Not just that, but I could finally breathe and collect my thoughts after learning about Carbon 13-nuclear magnetic resonance for forty nine minutes.
Now don't judge or anything, but yes, I am a senior taking Chem. I was supposed to take it in the eleventh grade with everyone else, but I didn't feel like it that year. Shoot me.
"Do you think we'll survive to the bell, fam?" One of my best friends asked, leaning against me dramatically. Her name was Shania; She was a sophomore, but definitely one of the more mature ones in her grade. I gently pushed her off me and chuckled quietly.
"I surely hope so." I said, while pretending to be taking notes and staring at the PowerPoint. She sighed and rested her head on the "lab station," AKA a nice-sized desk with a stainless steel sink.
It felt like eternity to get out of that class. But at 10:02, the bell rang and everyone stuffed their notebooks, pens, textbooks, and other items in their backpacks, immediately rushing towards the door. Shania and I walked down the hall towards the one hundred building to head to my locker. We did this every morning, and met with the same group of friends. But for whatever reason, they weren't anywhere in sight of where we would usually spot them, so we carried on without them. Michael and Roberto were already waiting at my locker though, which was nice. They were just another one of our friend's...nothing too special, but special enough. I say the "nothing too special" part as more a joke. They, obviously, mean the world to us and we care about them dearly; even if sometimes, they can be complete assholes.
"Hey, where are the other four?" Michael asked. "It seems so weird not hearing Sam, Matt, Vidal, or Andrew, talking loudly behind you two."
"We didn't see them when we were walking. They probably went to get a snack or something." Shania replied and coughed a bit.
It seemed only a second went by and we heard the rest of our friend's coming up being us. Ah, speaking of the devils. I thought to myself. A squealing Samantha (or...as we call her, Sam) ran up to Shania and I and grabbed our hands. She was jumping up and down and Vidal started tapping my arm, excitedly.
"You're not going to believe this. But boys are at our school!" Vidal said.
I raised my eyebrow at him. "Really now? I had no idea whatsoever that boys went to our school. Wow Vidal, thanks so much for letting us know."
"Nobody needs your sass right now, ma'am." Michael commented with a half-chuckle. I rolled my eyes jokingly and gave him a smile, which caused some rosy cheeks. Everyone knew this already, but he had a crush on me. He always has. But because I saw him as one of the best friends, I knew I didn't want to put our friendship on the line. But that's another story for another day.
"No, no, no. Taliyah...Shania...listen! You know these boys!" Sam informed.
"What?" Shania asked, definitely as confused as I was.
"Oh, for the sake of seconds we're wasting right now, those pathetic Viner boys with the Jay Leno chins were in the office. They were talking to the counselor and principal or some shit." Matt said. He took off his hat to run his fingers through his hair, then put his hat back on.
"WHAT?" Michael, Shania, Roberto, and I said all at once. I pulled away from Sam and Vidal and started to back away slowly.
"You guys are completely lying. There is no way, that...that the Dolan Twins are here? In this small town? Magnolia High School? Definitely not." I said. I shook my head, as if to physically not believe it. I wouldn't. They were so famous...and popular. They could never be at a place like this.
Shania looked as if she was about to cry or vomit or pass out or probably all three. Her mouth was open and she seemed frozen in place. Vidal took out his phone and scrolled for a sec, before showing me the screen with shaky hands. He had taken a picture. I refused to look for a long moment, but then Shania must of seen it, and she fell to her knees and broke into sobs. My eyes widened as I met the screen in front of me and saw that...Matt was right.
The internet famous, Viner/YouTuber, Dolan Twins from New Jersey, were in our small town inside Los Angeles, California...and they were possibly now attending MHS.
