Ashley's POV
"But mom, do I have to go? I mean, I'm sure Emily won't mind," I smiled, innocently.
Mom turned around from putting her lipstick on, her blonde curls bouncing and her blue eyes had frustration written in them. "Ashley. We've spoken about this and the answer is still no."
"But mom!" I started, but stopped when she gave me that look.
"No means no. Don't you want to be there for your little sister?"
I stopped. Emily has been going on about her magic show for months now, and I love her to bits. She's the best little sister in the world and if me going to the talent show makes her happy, then I'll go.
"Fine. I'll go for Emily."
She beamed at me, and her eyes shined with joy. "That's the spirit! Now go get ready, we have to get there for 3pm!"
I sent her a small smile before grudgingly walking back to my room. Flopping onto my bed, I stared at my ceiling.
"I do not have a good feeling about this..." I muttered to myself before groaning and running a hand through my brown locks.
Getting up, I looked around my room. It's only 11am and we have 4 hours before we need to go.
"Might as well get my clothes ready, since I have nothing else to do." I opened my wardrobe and debated on what to wear.
Finally, I picked out a pair of ripped black skinny jeans with a white tank top and a grey hoodie. I took out my black combat boots and put them near the outfit.
"There, all done." I smiled and looked at the time. Great, it's only been like 15 minutes.
I jumped onto my bed and decided to take a nap instead. My eyes shut as soon as my head hit the pillow.
Chase's POV
Laughing, I picked my little brother up and spun him around. "I knew you could do it kiddo!" He giggled as his brown hair flew all over the place, green sparkling eyes just peaking through his long locks. He really needs a hair cut.
Putting him down, I gave him a high five. "That was great! You're going to be an awesome football player one day!"
"You think so?" He asked, hope shining in the green.
"Definitely." I beamed. "Hey, how about we go and get you a hair cut so you can look all cool and neat for your performance tonight?" I asked him, pulling him towards me.
He nodded so eagerly, I thought his head would fall off. "Okay Chase!" He ran towards the house, "I have to look good for the audience, or should I say the girls!"
Shaking my head, I smirked. Sometimes, it scares me how alike we are, even though we're stepbrothers. He was born after my mom and Jason got married, so he doesn't know we're not actually blood related.
But I'd do anything for the little guy.
We walked into the house and found Mom cooking something in the kitchen.
"Hey Mom!" She smiled at us and gave us a hug. Her brown hair was pulled up in a bun and her green eyes lit up when she saw us.
I remember I used to get upset because I had brown eyes while everyone had blue, green or hazel eyes. I thought it was boring and lame. Well, that was before girls started throwing themselves at me. Apparently girls dig the brown eyes, it makes me look sensitive or something. And the puppy dog look works every time.
"How was your day?" She asked after we pulled away.
"It was good, little guy here is getting better at football everyday! He might even be a pro one day," I smiled down at him and watched him puff out his chest with pride.
"Really? Well, I wouldn't be surprised since his brother and father are so good at the sport!" I blushed at the comment and laughed, running my fingers through my dirty blonde hair.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Anyway, I was wondering if I could take Jake out to get a hair cut and hang out? We'll back in time for the talent show,"
"Of course. I don't see why not. And Jake does need a hair cut, any longer and you won't be able to see his face!" We laughed at Jake pouting.
"Thanks mom!" I slipped on my leather jacket and helped Jake put his coat on. Grabbing the car keys in one hand and Jake's hand in the other, we walked to my car and made our way to the mall.
