Zoe and Crystal rode back to the condo. Crystal observed the area. There was much vegetation, and the main structure looked like a motel. Then again... Zoe did say her friends and her rented their place. Zoe led the little girl up the stairs to the second floor. Zoe took out her key, and then she opened the door. "Welcome... To what might be, your new home!!" Zoe then kicked the door open.
The apartment was divided up into 4 sections, one for each girl's room. "Knowing Carson, she'll let you stay here, so you can just crash with me." Zoe jumped onto her dark blue bed. Crystal slowly climbed onto it. She didn't want to feel rude by jumping on something that wasn't hers.
A few minutes later, Sydney walked through the door. "Hey Zoe, hey Crystal..."
"Your shift's over already?"
"I only had a half day today... Thank goodness~" Sydney threw herself into her pink, fluffy bed. "Carson confirm Crystal staying yet?"
"No," Crystal said, finally speaking for herself. "We're waiting for her to get home."
"I think she was working overtime today..." Zoe scratched her head, trying to remember. She never actually listens to Carson.
"So, when will she be home?" Crystal asked, looking both relieved and anxious.
"Uhm... She normally gets off at 5. So, maybe she'll be here at 7?" It was 3:30 p.m.
"I got to wait 'til 7 to get approved of living?? Dude, I'll go find a box!" Sydney went into the kitchen. She walked back out with a cardboard delivery box.
"I got you covered~"
"Sydney!!" Zoe eyed her friend disapprovingly.
"No, I meant, with a little decorative tape, paint, maybe some glitter... You can make this your bed! You know, for here."
"... I'm sleeping on paint, tape, and glitter??"
"With some comfortable cushions or something on the inside..."
"Ughhhhhh~" came a grunt from the doorway. "I'm done dealing with people..." The random voice flopped onto its bed.
"Technically," Sydney started, "you still have to deal with us."
"Do not start with me!!" Crystal cowered behind Zoe on her bed.
"Is that Carson..?" she quietly whispered. The stranger looked up when she heard a quiet comment.
"Aw, who's this little cutie?" Zoe patted Crystal's head.
"No, no, no," she whispered, "that's Nicolette."
"Oh, that's Sydney's girlfriend!!" Crystal blurted.
"Oh my god.." Sydney covered her face with her hands to hide her quickly turning red face.
Crystal's comment filled the room with awkwardness in less than three seconds. Nicolette shot a look at Sydney, her face insanely red as well. She looked up from her hands.
"No!! Uh uh, that's was Zoe. I said nothing!!" she stuttered. Zoe tried to stifle her laughter, but she couldn't help it.
"Ha haaaaaaa!! I love doing this to you~"
"I will come over there... And slap the shit out of you."
"Wow..." Zoe sarcastically commented.
"Try me!!" Sydney stood up, fists clenched and ready to fight. Crystal thought it would be smart to say something before an actual fight happened.
"Zoe, I'm hungry!! You never actually fed me earlier..."
"Oh yeah, you're right. OK, let's see what we have." Zoe waltzed into the kitchen. "Uhm... We have apple pie!"
"... Better than nothing." Crystal shrugged as Zoe removed the foil of the dessert. "Geez, you guys really love apple pie!"
"Nope," Sydney shouted from the other room, "that's just Zoe. She'll eat the entire thing in less than an hour--"
"If we don't 'put it away'," Nicolette interrupted. It was a natural talent for her to stop Sydney's sentence. "We just have to wrap it up in a way where Zoe will be too lazy to take it out."
"And I hate you guys for that." Zoe handed Crystal a slice of pie. Crystal took a small bite of the cold dessert. She shivered internally. Zoe led her to the couch by the door. "So, Crystal... You excited to live with us??"
"Possibly..."
"Sydney!!"
"... I'll be in the kitchen."
"Anyway..."
"Is she always negative like that?" Crystal asked, mouth full of pie.
"Yep."
"Shut up, Nicolette!!"
"Haha, these two are funny.. But, back to your question, yeah, I'm psyched to live here!"
"Zoe, what time is it?" Sydney said as she submerged from the kitchen. Zoe looked at her phone.
"4:15."
"You got 3 more hours to kill, kid."
"I wanna take a nap." Zoe walked over to her bed and flopped onto it. Crystal continued to munch on her pie slice. That was a feel of the place, now for a feel of the mates.
