I woke up to the sun shining brightly through my window, landing on my sheer curtain that is cascading around my queen size canopy bed. A smile appears on my lips as I realize its my eighteenth birthday. I climb out of bed and sauntered over to my closet.
"What do I want to wear today?" I mumbled to my self.
Settling on a cerulean v-neck sweater and a pair of black skinny jeans, I walk into my bathroom and start my shower. After my shower I get dressed, brush my teeth, and pull my long black hair back into a ponytail. Looking over my self in the mirror I decide against any make up and grab my back pack.
Walking down stairs, I find my mom at the table with a very old book infront of her.
"Morning mom. I'm off to school. Running a little late." I said as I kissed her cheek.
"Oh Kyerie, honey, happy birthday. I have something special planned this evening so come straight home after school." she yelled after me.
"Ok mom. See you later. Love you!" I yell back getting into my car.
"Omg! Kyerie, where have you been! I have been searching for you since I got here. Only you would be late to school on your birthday. I mean really all your friends, I mean me by the way, looking for you to give you your gift and you show up during second period like its no big deal!" my best friend Sapphire whispered frantically beside me.
I could not help the grin that found its way to my lips as I listened to her ramblings.
"It's not funny! I thought something was wrong. You didn't even answer you phone any of the seven hundred times I tried calling."
"Saph I'm fine and I'm here now so stop panicing. Breath chica." I giggled.
Class passed by quickly and we were heading to lunch when Sapphire shoved a red and black wrapped box in my hands.
"Happy birthday. Go on, open it!" Saph shrieked giddily.
"Saph you know how I feel about gifts."
"I don't care. I got you something anyway so get over it and open the damn thing." she said with a smile.
I rolled my eyes as I fingered the black ribbon bow on top.
"But the wrapping paper is so pretty." I pouted playfully as she scoffed unattractively.
Laughing at my friend I tour into the package. Taking the lid off to reveal a black leather choker necklace with a ruby red pendant three size of a fifty cent piece hanging from the center.
"Oh my gosh, Saph! Its beautiful, but seriously you didn't have to." She cut me of by grabbing the necklace from the box and motioned me to turn around.
"I knew you would love it so I had to get it." she started as she wrapped it around my neck and fattened the clasp in back.
I fingered the pendant and gave my best friend a bear hug.
"Thank you." I said smiling at her.
"Well its not everyday you turn eighteen now is it." She giggled.
We finished lunch and went to forth period. After the bell rang Sapphire met me by my car. Her face lit up when I rounded the corner.
"Hey! I thought you'd never show up. I was about to start walking." She joked.
"Well I'm sorry not every one can be a jack rabbit like you." I shoved her am playfully as I opened her door.
"For you madmozel." I said with a deep bore and swish of my hand laughing.
"Why thank you kindly! Can never find good help in this town anymore." She said in a southern belle accent as she pretended to curtsy and get on the car as she pulled her imaginary skirt in e with her.
We were both laughing so hard our sides hurt, as one of the football Jocks got into his pick up truck stare at us like we have lost our minds. That is just how we liked it. To keep everyone guessing st what we were going to do next.
I parked my mustang GTO next to Saph's mom's Audi and we both went inside to do our homework and study got out test tomorrow.
"So what do you think your mom got you?" She asked.
"I don't know. Oh shit! I was suppose to go straight home after school. Mom said not to be late." I said as I stuffed my books in my bag, jumping of Sapphire's bed.
"But she knows you always come over here after school. Its a daily ritual!" Saph whined.
"Oh honey don't get upset. You'll see me tomorrow." I said kidding my best friend on the cheek as I waved bye running out the door before she could comment.
I only lived down the road from Sapphire so it did not take anytime getting home.
"Hey mom! I'm sorry I'm late. I was dropping Saph off at her house." I said as I walked in the door, only I was answered with silence.
"Mom? Mom? Hello, mom where are you?" I yelled through the house.
I found a note on the fridge it reads.
"Kyerie,
I made you dinner. It's in the microwave. I was hoping you and I could have ate together for your birthday but things happen. I well see you in the morning. Oh and sweetheart, I made you a special juice in the fridge. I hope you enjoy it. -Love mom"
"Well thank you mom." I said as I heated my food in the microwave and grabbed the glad of juice labled 'Kye's birthday drink'
The microwave beeped and I grabbed my plate as I headed to the table. Mom had made my favorite lasgana. I dove my fork in greedily skarfing it down my throat. With my plate clear of posts and it's sauces, I chugged my drink. It tasted s little weird but I did not think about it as I finished the glass.
Washing my dishes and putting them up I went to my room and got ready for bed. My stomach started to hurt so I ran to my bathroom preparing my self for thrusting up.
"I knew I shouldn't have ate so fast. I always do that, but this had never happened like this." I muttered to my self add I kneel down by the toilet.
My body spasms and convulses on the floor. The pain is so overwhelming I think I'm going to die. Another spasm rocks through my body causing my head to jerk backwards into the wall so hard I blackout.
