Where I meet Rob

She turned around to see that whoever was outside had pushed the door handle down. She quickly shut the book and put it back in the right place (maybe another habit of her?) and looked around for a good hiding spot. There was one between the cabinet and the counter and she didn't think twice before pushing herself into it.

She felt sick. She was an intruder, maybe she really was a burgular!

Why did it take so long to open the door?

She turned her head and saw why. The backpack still blocked the entrance! But not for long and it was too late to get it now, so she stayed in her spot waiting for what would happen.

On that moment, the door opened and slammed against the wall, making the backpack fall. In the opening now stood a man, not so old but not really young, just like the house. He had dark short hair, stubbles and cold, hard blue eyes, which were fierce and suspicious. He was forcely built with strong arms and as a whole it made her really afraid of him in less then the second she saw him.

The man picked up the backpack curiously and then layed it on the wooden table. He walked straight through the room to the other door opened it and revealed a stairway which he then climbed without giving a glance backwards.

As soon as he was out of sight, she jumped out of her spot. She ran to the table, grabbed the backpack and sprinted to the door. She needed to get out of here, and fast. She held out her arm to get the doorknob, but at that moment she felt a hand on her shoulder. She hadn't heard hm coming back.

Her eyes closed, she dropped her arm and slowly turned around facing the man. She didn't dare stare him in the face and left her head hanging, panicking inside it. She was catched and now he would call the police and she needed to go to prison...

Then she felt a weight lifted of off her and she looked up: The man had taken his hand of her shoulder. His stare held her in a way she couldn't explain and the man did something she didn't expect at all: He smiled.

It wasn't a very big, obvious smile. It was a kind and small, modest, but real half smile. She immediately felt more comfortable around him.

'I was wondering whether I would meet you', the man said to her surprise. 'Glad you changed your mind and came anyway. Was a little worried when your dad send me that letter. Hope the way here wasn't that awful? Seeing your legs hurting you. Come, we'll go right now, no time to lose. You have no idea how pleased I am now that you're here'

This was too much for her short-term memory. 'W-what?', she stuttered.

The man looked at her confused. 'We're going to the Basis. Now that we're complete we finally can get started! That was the deal, do you remember?'

'Sorry sir, but I don't know what happened since I awoke today. Can you tell me where I am, sir?', she said, feeling shy.

'The name's Rob. But do you really don't remember anything? But I thought that we had fixed that problem, unless...'

The man's eyes widened as he realised something. He quickly looked out the window at the great sun, which, as she saw, was slowly going down. The man walked to a closet and from one of the shelves he got a little, round box. It had a kind of Indian style, as it was decorated with a lot of little shining stones in one-hundred different colours. She found it was very beautiful and mysterious in an unique way.

The man named Rob spinned the top of the box and took it off. Curious, she looked over and saw a pile of silvery-gold stuff, like dust or glitter, but lighter. It almost didn't look touchible, like air. The man took only a little of the dust in his hand, put the top back on the box and put it away again. He then opened the door and pulled her outside, looking for the spot where the sun was shining the most. When he had found it, he looked her in the eyes.

'Now, we need to be really quick. There's a lot I need to explain to you, and I mean really a lot. Maybe today is not long enough. But for now you need to be quiet and concentrate. Concentrate on... On... On getting an explanation. On getting home'

He said all this real fast, and she nodded. He gave her some of the dust and said her to hold his hand and then throw it the gold powder before her. She nodded again, looked into the sun, and thought as hard as she could about being home, something she wanted really bad. And an explanation.

She threw the glittery stuff before her and almost immediately she felt something tinteling in her arms and legs. The feeling extended to her stomach, hands, feet, head. She felt like she was becoming lighter with the second. She closed her eyes and a feeling of peace she hadn't felt since that morning came to her; She was flying.

She looked around. Rob was nowhere to be seen anymore, but she could still feel his presence. She took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh air like it was the first or the last time.

Everywhere she looked, there was light. Not only that; She wás the light. She and Rob had become the light they were traveling on, faster than the fastest racecar here on Earth. It didn't feel weird, it felt natural. In fact, it felt better than being material. She didn't feel the pressure on her leg anymore. Like she belonged this way, going faster than the speed of light and sound...

And then it suddenly stopped. With a thud she fell on the ground, this time not grass, but a kind of stone. She was normal again.

She touched her head, her nose, her lips. She looked down and saw het belly, legs and feet. Yes, everything still was there. She got up, massaging her leg, which still hurt. Then she looked up, and she held her breath.

Before her stood an amazing, gigantic castle, one who you would read about in fairytales, or stories about the Middle Ages. It was steadily built, though here and there some red bricks had fallen out of place, and it looked more than thousands of ages old. Towers and balconies were sticking out of it in every direction, but still it seemed so órganised. Big windows with soft, red curtains were visible, and the enormous wooden gate was closed. A castle worthy the ruler of the world, but not very welcoming, it seemed, towering over her.

Where did it came from?, she thought. But she already knew it. But she didn't want to say it, it was just so unlogic, so unreal, unless...

Magic?

While she was staring mindlessly at the castle, the high towers, the bars at the windows and the sharp spikes sticking out of all walls, Rob appeared out of nowhere and landed on his feet. He walked past her to the gates without saying anything, and she got out of her trance and followed him fast.

When she had caught up with him, she finally started asking thev questions on which she wanted to know the answer more than anything. 'Where is this place? Where am I? How did I came here? What just happened? How do you know me? Who am I?'

Rob still didn't look at her, but did answer. 'We're in Unaghomo, the capital of the land and world Astella. You came here with SD, or stardust, powder made of real stars. You just wnt through a light tunnel, you need to get used to that. I know you because we have corresponded and you...'

He stopped for they had arrived at the gate. He let his hand go over the steady wood, that melted away like nothing and formed an opening high enough for both of them to go through. She had no time to let this sink in and stepped through it. When she looked around, she saw the opening dissapear again. They were now in a dark hall of blue stone, with mirrors and paintings on each wall. It scared her a bit. But at that moment Rob began to speak again.

'You're name is Jeanne Kellers-Bell and you have no idea'
