     THE HOWLING.

     05. CHAPTER FIVE : with bloodied feet across the hallow'd ground (n.e)

     "Your father's dead."

     One hour earlier

Rowan groaned at her phone rang, her hand lazily untangled itself from the blanket surrounding her and slammed onto the nightstand, effectively hitting the 'ignore' button. A few seconds later, the same annoying tone echoed in her ears.

"Damon, what can I do for you at this ungodly hour?" she asked into the intercom, the phone was settled in between her ear and the pillow. Her voice was laced with bitterness, though covered with false manners.

"We have a plan to kill Klaus."

"Yes, because all of your plans always go smoothly."

Only five seconds into the phone call, and Rowan could picture the vein popping out of Damon's forehead. "Get your lazy ass out of bed, and meet us at the boarding house."

Before she could argue, Rowan was met with the tell-tale click signifying the vampire had hung up on her. Her phone dropped from her pillow when she twisted, landing on the floor, but Rowan paid it no mind as she begrudgingly jaunted out of bed, and toward her closet.

After finding her outfit of the day, grabbing her keys and coat, and taking the short trip, Rowan stood in front of the Salvatore boarding house, not bothering to knock as she wandered inside. The blonde sitting in an armchair didn't surprise her, so instead of speaking, she concentrated on finding the person responsible for getting her out of bed, but a voice stopped her.

"I'm not surprised to see you wanting to assist with killing my brother. From what I understand, her brother is sired to him," Rebekah said, taking a sip of her drink shortly after. Rowan stopped and backtracked into the parlor.

"And from what I understand, your brother killed your mother. So you couldn't exactly paint me surprised either." Rowan stood, arms crossed as she watched Rebekah pour herself another drink. "What's their plan exactly?"

Rebekah didn't answer, she only gestured with her hand. Rowan shrugged and followed the direction.

"Alright, let's say Mikael followed Elena. Tried to grab her so he could use her as bait," she heard Stefan say. Despite her confusion about Mikael, she kept her footsteps steady.

"And you, what, vervained him?" Elena questioned.

"No, we vervained him. Guys an Original. We have to make it realistic," Damon spoke up just Rowan walked into the room.

She raised her eyebrows at them all. "Could I vervain him?"

The three turned to her. Elena tried to smile in a greeting, Stefan kept his face blank, and Damon rolled his eyes. "Okay, fine," Stefan sighed. "We vervained him, and in the process discovered that he had a dagger."

"Which he planned to use on Rebekah but instead ‒ "

"We drove it through his heart," Stefan cut Elena off.

"What happens when he asks to see Mikael's body?" Elena asked, starting to point out one of the flaws.

Rowan, who was starting to catch on, nodded along with Damon, who spoke, "Good point. You, my brother, have been compelled to what Klaus says, so if the idea to lure him back here and kill him the last thing we need is you getting tripped up and tongue-tied."
