Only a day, it had been only one day since the defeat of the Tartaros. Only one day since the death of Igneel, the foster father of Natsu Dragneel. It had been hard on everyone, everyone losing people they cared about. People they loved, people they kept deep in their hearts.

Only one day since Natsu made that promise to Igneel to become stronger, to defeat Agnologia. Lucy sacrificed Aquarius so she could save her friends. Gray lost his father so his guild mates were able to survive.

Natsu wasn't one to express his feelings; he normally would always solve his problems by using his two fists. But he couldn't hide these feelings, these feelings pouring out like a waterfall, never wanting to stop. His eyes were puffy tinted with the colour of red, all because of the tears he was shedding. Watching over the city of Magnolia, the place he grew up in, the place where he met the most important people in his life today. He never wanted to look away.

Lucy Heartfilia, sacrificing one of her strongest Celestial Spirits Aquarius, was feeling just as much pain as her hot headed best friend was. She glanced over to the edge of the rocky cliff, seeing her best friend glancing out into the dark skies of Magnolia.

She had this urge to comfort him, to hold him, to tell him everything would be ok. She wanted to be there for him, even though she knew deep down, she couldn't change the fate of her best friend's father.

Slowly pulling herself upward onto her two feet, she walked over to her best friend. She sat down right next to him, letting her feet dangle over the edge of the cliff. She wanted to speak, she wanted to tell him everything would be ok, but nothing would come out, like she was on mute.

She took a quick glance toward him, she examined his face. It was blank, emotionless, like Natsu didn't know what he was feeling anymore. He didn't know what to do now. His dad was there full of life and in the flesh, and then he was gone, but he knew this time, he could never come back.

Natsu took a glance at Lucy, she was holding Aquarius's key, they key she scarified to save not only herself but all of Fairy Tail. She held onto it rather tightly, trying to stop the tears falling from her eyes.

Natsu knew what she was going through. They both were sharing the same pain. Natsu knew the reason of why Lucy came to sit down with him in the first place. They were both meant to comfort each other, they had done it before. They had both been there for each other, no matter what had happened they were always there for each other. They were always there for each other when the other had fallen. That was them, that was Natsu and Lucy.

Natsu didn't know what to do; he was just as clueless as Lucy was. He only knew one thing to do. Normally if he did this Lucy was give him a good old Lucy Kick, or she was blush fifty shades of red. But he did it anyway.

Slowly he circled his arms around her waist, pulling her closer to him. When she was close enough he placed his forehead in the crook of her neck, snuggling closer to her, clinging on to her, not wanting to let go.

Lucy wasn't shocked, she wasn't angry; she didn't know what she was feeling. She could feel her cheeks slightly heating up, she didn't know this feeling. She had only felt it every so often. But it was always with Natsu. This feeling only occurred when Natsu was around her; it was never any other person, never any other boy...

She didn't know her true feelings towards Natsu. She always just came back to the conclusion that any girl would feel butterflies in their stomach when a boy was close to her. But that feeling wasn't meant to happen with her best friend. She knew that much. She just didn't know what was going on with her.

But she wasn't the only one feeling this way; Natsu Dragneel your hot headed Dragon Slayer, quite dense when it came to love. He had never really felt the emotion, it never came to him. But he always had this natural draw to Lucy; he always had this urge to go to her. He never knew why, but he always just followed his instinct.

Every other person in the guild knew it. It was too obvious for everyone. The only people who didn't know were of course Natsu and Lucy.

They loved each other; they hid their feelings by just saying they were best friends. But they didn't know, hell they still don't. The entire guild knew this fact, people didn't believe it at first, I mean how could you? This is Natsu and Lucy, but slowly by each day passing, you could see how much they both cared for each other.

So here they were, looking over Magnolia holding onto each other not wanting to let go. They both didn't know what to say.

Lucy slowly wrapped her skinny arms around Natsu's shoulders, drawing him closer to her. Natsu slowly lifted his head to meet her brown eyes. Natsu didn't pull away in fact he did the complete opposite; slowly his body was leaning in closer, closer to hers. Like a magnet.

He didn't know what was happening; it was like his body was moving on his own.

But Lucy didn't tilt her head away either, in fact she was doing the exact same as Natsu was. Her arms lifted from his shoulder, slowly snaking around his neck, they both knew what would happen if they kept this going, they both knew, but they weren't stopping.

Soon they were only millimetres apart, if either one of them was to tilt their heads ever so slightly, their lips would make contact. But neither of them was pulling away.

Slowly Natsu closed the gap between them. The kiss was light and slow, but still filled with passion. Both moving in perfect sink, it was now so clear to them, they needed each other, they needed each other because they loved one another. Natsu's hand slowly pulled up to her cheek, his other hand still held tightly around her waist.

Slowly they pulled away from each other, quite stunned on what had just happened. But still neither of them said a word. Natsu slowly opened his eyes to meet hers; he smiled ever so lightly at the sight of Lucy with her cheeks tinted with the colour of red.

Their foreheads made contact, the same move that Natsu did to future Lucy a while back. Lucy felt it again, the butterflies in her stomach, fluttering around not going away.

Natsu slowly placed his hand that was on Lucy's cheek back down to her waist, slowly his body moved downward until Natsu was then lying down with his head rested in her lap, his arms snaked around her waist and his face snuggled into Lucy's stomach.

Lucy's hands then moved his pink locks, stroking them lightly. Natsu purred under his breath from the sudden contact from the top of his head. They didn't say a word, they just held onto each other, not letting go.

Natsu knew that soon he would have to leave; he would have to leave so he could become stronger, become stronger for Igneel so he can defeat Agnologia, and defeat Zeref. But for now, he just wanted to hold onto Lucy. He didn't want to say goodbye, but he knew it wouldn't be the end of Team Natsu, they would still have great adventures, he would still break into her apartment and sleep on her comfy bed, he would still rescue her at the toughest times, and he would still be with her in her heart.

But for now they just wanted to be near each other, to hold onto each other, never letting go.

"I'm always here for you, you know that right?" Lucy said quietly, still looking out to the dark skies of Magnolia.

Natsu stayed quiet for a bit, processing what she does told him. Then finally he spoke up, "I know." he says mumbling under his breath.

"Will you be there for me?" Lucy asks suddenly.

Natsu was shocked, why would she ask something like that? Of course he would! He would never stop being there for her; he'd be there until the very end.

"I always will be, don't you worry about that." He says, tightening his grip around her waist.

"I love you." Lucy mumbled under her breath.

In her mind she didn't want him to hear that, not yet anyway, but he did.

"I love you to." Natsu replies before he slowly shuts his eyes and goes into a deep sleep.

They would always be there for each other, no matter what. They knew that much.

That was just Natsu and Lucy.
