Part 13

*2 weeks later*

You decided to go surprise Karkat with a present at his house. You grab the gray and green box and walk over to his house. You smile as you turn the handle. You walk inside slowly, surprised by the unlocked door. You turn the corner to the living room and instantly drop the box.

Karkat is laid on the couch, on top of someone...kissing them. Karkat snaps his head in your direction and you see the person under him. Terezi. Karkat quickly gets off of her and starts babbling excuses.

Tears come to your eyes immediately and you just stare at him with a look of "why?" As he rambles, Terezi just repeats "I'm sorry nep, I'm sorry nep" you pick up the box, open it, and throw the contents at his face. You pick your chin up, and walk out.

Karkat grabs his nose as the metal picture frame hits him. He looks down and sees the picture of all your friends and you, including him.

The tears stream down your face as you pick up your phone and text Equius.

You: what are you doing right now?
Equihiss: Working on my motorcycle.
Equihiss: May I ask why?
You: I'm coming over. I'll explain there.
Equihiss: Okay, drive safe.

You almost smile, he's so sweet to you. You grab a spare set of clothes (knowing you would stay the night), brush, toothbrush, and shove them in your bag. You put Pounces leash on and pick up your keys.

You open the door and are greeted by Karkat, who is blushing furiously. "Nep I can explain I-" you interrupt him "stop. No. You can't. I don't believe you. Walk away." But he doesn't move. Pounce senses your anger and hisses at him.

"Move. Please." You say, the tears running down your cheeks again. He still doesn't move "no let me explain-" you stop him with a smack to the cheek. "Leave. Me. Alone." You say, voice not shaking.

He stumbles back and you close the locked door behind you as you continue walking to your car. You throw the things into the backseat and put Pounce in the passenger seat. He runs to catch up to you but you shove him to the ground.

"Stop it right now Karkat" not bothering to use his nickname, "I thought you loved me. You lied to me. You don't love anyone but yourself." You step into the car and slam the door. You start it and roll the window down "also, say hi to Terezi for meow." You say, smirking. You wouldn't let him see you be weak.

You drive around 10 minutes to Equius's house and pull into his driveway. He's standing on his porch, he must have been waiting for you. You gather your things and let Pounce run to Equius. "She missed you" you say, voice cracking and choking out a sob. You were okay with letting him see you cry.

He put Pounce on the porch swing and ran to hug you tightly. You sobbed into his tank-top, which smelled like sweat and milk (his favorite). He smelled like comfort. He  smelled like home.
