The gnarliest of beasts roam. They are friends of the werewolf, a companion to the vampire, and the ruler of the entirety we know. No creature has roamed this Earth with such power. I track them down; Justify their wild, unconventional selfish acts that we must terribly endure.

My roommate Marvis, came into the den of the house that afternoon, proceeding to tell me our next big case.

"Hey Arminius, you've gotta look at this!"

"Hm?" I said, with half of my attention on him.

Marvis left the room, at his realization of my disinterest at the time. I grabbed the manila folder that he left beside me, while keeping my eyes fixed on the newspaper. The newspaper read:

"Cold-blooded monster wanted: Killed her offspring and is on a rampage."

Finally, looking down, I noticed that the details in the manilla folder matched the newspaper headline. I was excited. I always aimed for the most ravenous monsters. I put the newspaper down and looked around for Marvis. He has an abundance of technical knowledge. He does most of the research for the monsters whom will attempt to slay. I found him, in the kitchen cleaning the countertops.

I began to explain myself to Marvis. "I read the papers you left, they match the article in the newspaper tha-"

I was interrupted by Marvis. He had thumped his head on top corner of the cabinet.

I continued to talk while I rolled my eyes and Marvis rubbed the top his head rhythmically.

"Aren't you aware of your large size? I can not even begin to count the amount of times you've done that Marvis"

"I am aware, it's just very difficult. What were you saying?" Marvis replied, still rubbing the top of his head.

"Oh, hmm uh" I snapped my fingers, trying to recall. "Oh! The files you left me-"

"You read them? Good, if we're going to try to do it then we have to start planning right away." Marvis interrupted.

We immediately went toward the computer. Marvis sat down and began typing away. He typed any names and locations mentioned in the newspaper article.

"This newspaper is from today so we'll definitely find something." He said.

We found a few locations that matched. We spent a couple hours trying to figure it out but then eventually went to bed.

We continued our search the next morning.

"Why do you think it doesn't say why she killed her children?" Marvis asked.

"There is no reason for anyone to kill their children Pal."

"Then why do it?"

"They're monsters." I said, continuing to type.

The monster's home was located two towns over. I was eager to go and find her but I had to wait till the sun set. Once the day ended and night arrived we began our way to the house. We contemplated on taking my car but we soon realized that Marvis's size makes the drive uncomfortable for him, even if it is just a 10 minute drive.

We arrived at the monster's house. We looked inside and it was dark. Not a single light was on.

"This was a stupid idea, she's on the run why would she be at her home?" I muffled with my face pressed against the window.

"Well, that's from your shoes. In her shoes she's alone and afraid. She has nowhere to go. She killed her only family."

"So you think she'd come back home." I asked in hope for clarification.

"Well yes, home is a place of comfort."

We began knocking on the window. It probably wasn't our best idea but we wanted her to know that we knew she was hiding in there. Suddenly a light blinked on and then off. It was a short amount of time but it was long enough for me to see her. She looked just like the monsters that I see on the tv, on the news. She had two piercing bright eyes, wild dark hair and a long piece of fabric covering her body. We ducked down under the window. Moments later we heard police sirens and we saw blue and red lights flashing down the street. The car stirred into the driveway.

"Put your hands up and step away from the house!" The police shouted; Drawing their weapons.

We turned around expecting to see the monster but she was still inside. We instantly turned back around when we heard a gunshot. The youngest of the five policemen fired a shot our way but missed Marvis's shoulder by a few inches.Very confused and disoriented, we put our hands behind our heads and dropped to the ground. The officers crept up to us cautiously. They prompted us up and placed us in handcuffs.

"What are you doing?" I looked around at all of the officers' faces for sympathy.

"Whoever lives at this residence, sounded like a frightened middle aged, women, maybe 40 years old or so, called us with a disturbance of monsters invading her home." One of the officers explained.

"No, you've got it the wrong way around. The monster is right in there! We've found her, she looks like all of you but you all must be good monsters." Marvis pleaded.

"I am no monster. Do you take me as an idiot? You are both voracious, hairy, wild monsters. Big foot; a hideous big buffoon. The officer pointed over to Marvis. "And a rusty old vampire; bloodthirsty, nocturnal and violent." The officer finished, while pointing towards me.

"It was not my choice to hunger for human blood. I've taught my self control. I would never kill without reason. Only for survival. I would never steal from another. I wouldn't dare tell a lie to save myself. And I would not dream of killing anyone especially one of my family. So please tell me, who are the real monsters?" I looked up at the officer who looked very angered. He lead us towards the police car and buckled us in.

I wish for an exchange; A possibility for an alternate universe. Those who kill, steal and cause harm would be monsters. I long for it. It could be out there but I can only wait and see if I ever run into it. I escaped my prison cell in the middle of the year 2015. It's been about two centuries. I've had to change my identify numerous times to hide that I'm not human. I've identified as many different types of "humans" but I still prefer to call them monsters.
