Echo suddenly woke up to a flood. "What?! Ethan!" Echo shouted. "Yeah- OH MY GOD!" Ethan felt the water underneath him. "Get to the nearest tree! C'mon!" Echo took Ethan's hand and went to the nearest tree. They started to climb it furiously and carefully, trying not to slip and fall in the icy water.
Ethan was shivering but helping her up to the tree. She then landed beside him, going shoulder to shoulder for warmth. "I thought nothing that bad was going to happen here." Ethan told her. "I thought so as well. But we were just wrong." Echo sighed. "Oh well." Ethan unexpectedly wrapped his arms around her and leaned his head onto her shoulder. "I'm cold!" He screeched and both Echo and Ethan started laughing.
The two of them forgot about the cottage and checked it. "It's not... It's not being flooded inside! Ho-How is that possible?!" Echo was astonished greatly and Ethan gasped. "It's like magic!" Ethan said to her. "Well, maybe it is magic!" Echo thought about it for a second.
"How could the cottage not be flooding though?.. The water level is almost as high as the cottage. This makes no sense." Ethan stated.
"No, it doesn't. But we should just be grateful of it right now." Echo told him. "True." Ethan closed his eyes and was starting to fell asleep on her. "Wait, let's get to a place where we can sleep safely." Echo told him. "Awh.. Ok.." The two of them stood up and started climbing and leaping branches, trying to find a safe spot to sleep in the trees. The trees were very sturdy. They also had a beautiful scent to it. "I found something!" Ethan screeched to her. "Wh-What? Ethan! Where are you?" Echo called out. "Behind you." Echo turned around and saw Ethan's face. She screamed and was nearly about to fall out of the tree but Ethan grabbed onto her. He was laughing.
"Great lord Ethan! You scared me straight on!" Echo was sighing heavily. "That was the point!" Ethan smiled and let go of her as she had a grip onto the tree branch beneath her. "Sorry about that.. It was fun. But, follow me." Ethan stood up and she stood up as well. They started to leap and climb more tree branches. She enjoyed the breeze onto her skin. It was much colder because there was a flood and the water was only a few feet lower than them.
"Woah..." Echo stared in awe at what she saw. "I know, right! It's so cool! I wonder who built it. But if anything, it's been abandoned for many moons and sunrises." Ethan told her and smirked. "Alright.. That's good. Let's dry up and find some food by hunting squirrels or birds in these trees." Echo told him. "Ok." The two of them continued climbing up tree branches and finally they reached it. A wooden tree house with enough space for the two of them.
"I don't think all the water'll be gone until ten more sunrises." Echo said while the two of them were drying themselves up with the sunlight and the breeze. "More like a million sunrises if you don't want it to be muddy." Ethan responded. "Well then. There should be fish in the flood though. Do you want to hunt fish, or squirrels and birds?" Echo asked him.
"Squirrels and birds." Ethan said. "Ok. You are skinnier and more agile than I am." She said. "I guess.. But I am skinnier!" Ethan agreed with part of her statement and started to climb tree branches. He had to use his eye sight pretty well in order to seek the prey he wants. "Time for fishing..." Echo sat down on a tree branch and watched the water, getting ready to leap down and catch a fish when seen.
Instead of seeing a fish, she saw a rabbit. It was struggling but she decided to kill it for prey. Echo took the rabbit's neck and stabbed her dagger into it's head. Blood was pouring on her hand. "Good..." She smiled and settled it down into the woven basket next to her. She created it a few minutes ago.
Echo watched the water more intently. Something told her to drink it. What if it's poisonous? She thought to herself. Don't drink it. Echo told herself once more. "Ahh. Ok!" Echo cupped her hands and let the water slither into her hands. She lifted her hands and hesitated to drink it. Echo sighed and she finally drank it. Her eyes widened. "This water is so good!" She said happily and cupped her hands again and putting more water into there. She drank another handful of water and went back to hunting.
