You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.

-Eleanor Roosevelt

"Never trust a dog to look after your food."

"Did you just call me a dog?"

"If I throw a stick, will you go away?"

Nathan tries to hold back a scream of frustration. His success rate is 50%. "You. Are. Such. A. Bitch!"

"Pardon me, but you've obviously mistaken me for someone who gives a damn."

"You know Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit."

"As said by those incapable of its proper application and as such, suffer from it immensely." Garfield smiles at my fast response.

"Who wants a soda? Nathan, you want a soda? Come on, let's get a soda."

"Say soda one more time."

"Keep talking," I continue, interrupting Nathan just as he's about to speak, "someday you'll say something intelligent."

Gabriel and Terry drag Nathan away. It's amazing how she's adapted so quickly, joining Janis' job in calming everyone down. Though I doubt Nathan will ever be completely calm around me. I irritate him too much (it's just so fun!).

"If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague."

"I'll try to be nicer if he attempts to be more intelligent." He heard that, but he simply looks back, scowling at my smirk.

I stand with Garfield, Terry, and Janis by the usher inside the movie theatre, waiting. You couldn't make dinner, and I didn't know why. Gabriel, Nathan, and Terry wouldn't say anything besides you being busy with family stuff. Seemed reasonable enough. Before long, I feel your hand snake down my back. I tense, despite Garfield giving me a comforting smile.

"Hey, how's it going?"

I remove your hand, sticking it by your side. "This land is your land. This land is my land. So stay on your land."

You chuckle.

"Is everything okay?"

You don't respond right away, too intent on staring at me. Oh, bujeebuz. "Are you renting the space in your head? It might be profitable."

"Meg isn't very happy today."

"I can see that," you mumble, still staring.

"She's being completely satanic."

I smile at Nathan's comment. "I don't have an attitude; I have a personality you can't handle."

"I'd say more hedonistic than satanic."

"So how 'bout that movie?"

Gabriel drags Nathan away before the conversation can continue. Janis and Lou follow, leaving Terry, Garfield, you and me standing here. Terry turns to you.

"You are alright, right?"

"Yeah, nothing too bad; just the usual stuff."

He nods.

"Why don't you two grab something while Terry and I save you some seats?"

"Isn't that what Janis is doing?"

Garfield shrugs as they walk off. The little Bugger!

"Do you want anything?"

"I'm fine."
