Chapter Three

Luke

“Hey Lucas” I say once I reach our lunch table. No one except the baseball players sit here. I honestly don’t know why, I mean we don’t bite and I’m pretty sure we’re good people.

“Hey Luke, did you hear what Randy’s father did?” Lucas is my best friend and is always scoring up the ladies. He never has had a serious girlfriend and is constantly getting it. Most people don’t really understand our friendship, we are polar opposites. He likes parties with lots of drunk girls, where as I like a nice quite evening with my amazing girlfriend, Hanna.

“No, what did he get himself into this time?”

“His dad found him doing the nasty with Samantha coming home early from a business trip, you know from chemistry, and Randy got a one way plane ticket to military school.” Lucas replied with a grin.

“Damn!” I let out a breath. “I guess I can’t be too surprised its not like we didn’t know this day was coming, but man did it have to be this year when we need him the most?”

Lucas just laughed as the other guys came over. Anthony, Peter, Isaac, and Patrick are our group of close friends. We’ve been together since the second grade and plan on keeping it that way. All our moms are part of the same alumni and have been close friends since college. So it was only a matter of time till us guys became friends especially since we all love baseball. But the relationship between my mom and Lucas’s mom is more close and special. They grew up together and so did Lucas and I, we have embarrassing pictures to prove it.

“Hey guys party at my house this weekend.” Patrick announced.  All the guys hollered and yelped their excitement.

Anthony was smiling like it was Christmas morning, “Man this is the perfect way to kick off our senior year. We are going to get so wasted.”

“Hell yeah!!!” Lucas exclaimed. “You plan on joining us Luke? There will be plenty girls to holler at.”

“Nah man, I think I’m happily content with Hanna thank you.”      

"Well she sure is a hottie, I would hit that.”, said Isaac. All the guys started laughing at my stunned expression. I wonder what Isaac meant by that…

Aria

“Ugh Rainbow do you think this blue is the right color for my beach theme? It has to be perfect because I’m not going to repaint the walls if it’s not the right color. And then you know I will suffer.” I told Rainbow who had her paint face on. Seriously, she had pain all over her face. I knew I should have done the test painting on my own.

“Well to be honest I like the daisy blue more than the unbelievable coral”

“Yeah I think so too, alright let’s go to the store tomorrow and get the paint.” My mom gave me the giant bonus room in our house. It used to be the game room but since my grades were superb last year I won the bet. She said she would only give me the room if I worked hard in school. So with that she had to sell our professional pool table and move the office to my room. But who cares I was a happy camper.

“Aria we have to head over to the restaurant so you can meet my boss to see if you can get that internship.” my mother called.

 “Okay!”

“I’ll see you tomorrow Aria and don’t forget that on Friday we are have our movie night at Jenny’s house.” Rainbow said as we exited my soon to be room.

“I never forget. What movie are we watching?”

“I think that date movie thing with Steve Carell and Tina Fey.”

“Oh cool! I heard that was a good movie. See you tomorrow stud muffin!”

“Bye sexy chocolate bar.” Rainbow said walking out the door.

Just as I turned around I let out a high pitched scream. Nathan was walking around the house wearing his spider outfit again. How does he get away with this stuff?? “What’s wrong?!?!” my mother shouted.

“Oh nothing, Nathan just likes to scare me every minute of my aching life!!” I’ve grown tired of the multiple tricks Nathan plays on me daily, only thing is that I am seriously terrified of spiders…I don’t know what it is about them but they just love to crawl everywhere and that is just not sanitary.

“Nathan get out of that costume and get something to eat before abuela comes over.” My mother instructed. Abuela means grandma in Spanish. I’m half Puerto Rican and half Irish. Yes odd mix but I love it!!

“Mom is dad coming with us?

“Yes he said he would meet us there, he’s dealing with a last minute client. Get your shoes on or we are going to be late. And by the way sweetie I love your ensemble you put together.” My mom told me.

I decided to go safe and wear black slacks with a white frilly blouse with my black kitten heels that I bought the other day. And my black hair framed my face just right. I was ready for this interview.

When we reached El Pomordoro Italian restaurant I was nearly sweating. I can’t do this interview, I was seriously nervous. What if I mess up? I need this for my college application requirements.

*Ugh just take deep breaths and count to ten Aria, you can do this!* I thought to myself.

My dad was waiting at the bench next to the door of the restaurant for us. “Hey dad! How was your day?” I asked. He gave me a hug and proceeded to talk about one of his clients endless rants while giving my mom a peck on the lips as we walked inside. Once inside my mom walks right up to a tall lady with a handsome man next to her. He looked really familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I mean how should I know him? He’s old.

Just as I was about to give my hand to my mother’s boss I look to my right and see a guy that looked a lot like Luke.

Oh shoot!!! That is Luke!! What is he doing here!
