Chapter 1Hate is a very strong word
~
You know when you just hate someone. Like you don't even mean it, you just hate them.
And every word that comes out of their mouth is like poison to your ears. Even if you agree with everything they say, you hate them anyways.
Did that person pop into your head? I know someone popped into my head, Kai willem. I hate him with every fiber of my being. He's a jackass to say the least. And you know what's the worst thing about this situation, he's the brother of my best friend.
As a kid i wanted to be just like Cinderella. She is so kind to everyone and everything. She would never hurt anything not even the annoying fly that, well, would annoy her. So I try to be as kind as I can be with people. But with Kai I turn into a whole new different person. I become aggressive and defensive. It's always a competition between us. Who is smarter, funnier or faster.
He brings a side of me that I don't want, and don't like. Not that I don't like being competitive, it's just I don't want everything to be a competition.
I've known Cara, Kai's younger sister by 10 months, since grade one. We were both new to the school so we were like the outsid- oh, I totally forgot to tell you my name, I'm Carmen Darrells by the way.
Okay, now that I got that out of the way, me and Cara became friends because I made her smell my eraser- I know what you are thinking, "why the fuck would you make her smell your eraser?" Well it smelled like oranges, which were my favorite food and color, at the time.
We became best friends since then, of course we had our fallouts, but doesn't every friendship?
Currently I'm trying to find a comfortable position to sleep in, did I ever tell you that motel beds are very uncomfortable? Cara, Ivana, Brea and me decided that for the summer that we were going on a road trip around America. We wanted to go backpacking through Europe, but I mean money doesn't grow on trees right?
Tomorrow we are going back home, which I'm excited and depressed about. Excited because I finally get to go home to my family. And depressed because school starts in a week.
The only thing I like about going to school, well more like getting for school is the supplies. And DIYing your stuff is so much fun! Oh I totally went off track there.. Ooopps.
Anyways another reason to add on the list of 'why Carmen is dreading to go back to Madison' Is that Kai is going to be back home.
"Beep.. Beep.. Beep.. Beep" I rolled my eyes.
You've got to be kidding me it's eight already!
I got up, swiping the 'swipe to unlock' to stop the horrid sound.
I walked to Cara's bed, shaking her shoulders.
"Come on, wake up..." No answer.
"Cara, get up!" No answer.
"Cara!!" I screamed, stretching the A's.
"I'm sleeping." she groaned, pulling the covers over her head.
"How are you talking then? Hmm?" I smirked, raising an eyebrow.
"I'm sleep talking." Hm, good one, but not good enough.
"But I thought that when people sleep talk, they usually don't know what Is going on around them, right?"
She flipped around staring at me with angry eyes, "smart ass." I smirked. I can be such a bitch sometimes!
I whirled around, running to the bathroom locking the door behind me expecting Godzilla herself to come crashing through the bathroom. One minute, two minutes, three minutes, nothing.
I unlocked the door, peeking my head through it.
"Godzilla.." I whispered, looking around to see any movement.
"Godzilla.." I whispered Again. Half my body is now out the door so if she decided to attack, I wouldn't have a chance to escape.
I step out fully, taking carful steps humming the mission impossible theme song. Before I round the corner, I call my for my inner ninja.
"Hi-yah!" I scream, jumping around the corner and into our room.
And guess what? Cara is sleeping. Typical.
"Alright, so you wanna play it this way, huh?" I mumble to myself. I grabbed the flower vase, throwing out the flowers, and then headed to the sink. I filled it to the rim with water, smiling evilly to myself. This will surly wake her up. I walked back to her bed, standing right in front of her.
"If you don't get up, I'm throwing water at you." I threatened Cara. She looked up at me and whispered, "you can't." Then turned the other way and closed her eyes.
"And why I can't I, exactly?" I said, stepping closer.
"I'll call Kai and tell him to go to your house." She said simply. "You wouldn't." I said piercing my eyes, staring at her back. "You and me both know that I would if it meant more sleep."
"Then I'll call my parents and tell them not to let Kai in." I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Hah, please, your parents would let Kai in even if it killed you." I scowled knowing she was right. My parents loved Kai and Cara, even more then me sometimes. Cara laughed, " I can literally feel you throwing daggers at my back, Carmen."
I growled at her. "Fine, if you don't call Kai then I'll let you sleep, one hour tops." I stated firmly. She smiled, victoriously and closed the one eye that she kept open during or little.. Shall we say, agreement.
What a great friend she is.
