Aria's POV

I woke up with swollen, red eyes and a bad headache. I had cried the whole night and I absolutely felt like that. My cheek was hurting like crazy so I decided to go to the mirror and look how bad it looked like. Great. It left a big mark directly under my eye which was also a bit blue.

'Good to be a girl. Concealer saves everything.' I thought to myself and was about to take my clothes on.

It would be my first day at school since one year and I was going to meet all the old friends and teachers again. So I decided to put a black jeans on with a white blouse with insects on it which was one of my favorite shirts. I put some makeup on and used so much concealer I didn't use since ever. One look in the mirror checking out if someone could notice my mark. The hickey on my neck was almost faded away so I didn't need it to cover.

I grabbed my purse and keys and went downstairs. I was sure dad wasn't home because it's 8 am and he would be already at work. I decided to text Ezra because I wanted to see him today.

'Hey, handsome. Can I come to your apartment at 7?' I texted him and immediately got his respond back.

'Sure, I'll make dinner'

'Sounds good.' I replied and put my phone in my purse.

I went out to my car and drove to school.

I was early so I found a parking lot very quickly. I jumped out and locked my car on my way to the principal. I liked Mr. Hackett a lot, I really hoped he was still working there. The high school didn't change, it exactly looked like that when I left, so I knew the way to the director. I knocked on the principal's door and got a 'Come in'. I walked in and saw Mr. Hackett and immediately smiled.

'Hello, Mr. Hackett.' I said sitting down on the chair which was in front of his desk.

'Ms. Montgomery, hello! Nice to see you, how was your year in New Zealand? I see you came back so I bet you missed us.' he said in a friendly voice.

'Oh it was good and yes I missed school so I wanted to come back and graduate here.'

'Sure, here's your schedule, you've got lots of classes with your friends Emily, Hanna and Spencer.' he smiled at me and gave me my schedule.

And in that moment my smile faded away. I had to see my friends and that gave me a shiver. I remembered the time I was calling with Spencer every day and someday our contact was more and more gone. Sometimes we texted us messages but not like friends, just like acquaintances who had the duty to report to each other. I felt unnecessary in the last months but always thought about a sensible reason why they didn't text or call me.

'Thanks, Mr. Hackett.' I faked a smile and was about to go out of the office.

'Hope you have a good time here again in Rosewood.' he said obviously happy I'm back. I let out a 'thanks' as I went out the door.

Ezra's POV

It felt strange not waking up next to Aria. Yesterday I woke up wrapping my arm around her and seeing her laying on my chest, slightly breathing. I already missed her and wanted her to be back here. I looked at my clock which said 7:45 am so I stood up and went to the bathroom to take a shower. After 10 minutes I was done. I jumped out, wrapped a towel around my waist and went out of the bathroom as I heard my phone vibrating hoping it was Aria. I felt butterflies filling my stomach when I read her name.

'Hey handsome. Can I come to your apartment at 7?' Everything in my body was going crazy when I read this. She wanted to meet me again. This thought seeing her again today evening made me so happy.

I drove to my work and parked in a parking lot. It was my first day here so I wanted to leave a good impression.

'I can't wait seeing Aria at the evening again.' I thought to myself as I walked in the school.

Aria's POV

I was stitting in front of school waiting for the school bell and secretly hoping Spencer or the other two girls would appear. I thought about Mike and dad standing with happy faces at the airport. I already noticed in that moment something wouldn't be right because mom wasn't there. I knew it and that made me feel even more angry about mom and dad, even Mike didn't tell me anything about it. Then I thought about yesterday again. How drunk dad was and how he slapped me. I could feel a tear rolling down my cheek.

Someone took me out of my trance and I quickly wiped my tear away.

'Aria? Is that you?' I heard a familiar voice saying and as I turned around I had to gulp.
