Veronica's POV:

I woke up to the devilish sound coming from my phone.

I groaned, squinting my eyes at my phone ringing on my nightstand. The sound finally came to a stop and a huge smile spread across my face as I snuggled deeper into my sheets ready to fall back into my slumber.

RING RING RING RING

God, who could be calling at this time?? The sun hasn't even come out yet, what time is it anyways?

I reached towards the nightstand and grabbed my phone. Instantly the bright light stung my eyes and I mentally cursed whoever was calling me, if it was an out of town number calling telling me about some insurance company I had no idea about I swear to god-

"HELLO?" I spat, not even bothering to check the caller ID when suddenly I realized who was on the other line.

"Well good morning to you too sunshine" Kyle spoke in an awfully cheerful voice

"Kyle I like you and all but why on earth are you calling me so early? What time is it anyways?"

"It's 6 exactly and don't you remember? You told me to make sure I woke you up early every morning since you have the habit of sleeping in and missing school, which by the way is today"

I groaned loudly, was it Monday already?

"Kyle I said that a week ago and I'm starting to regret it. I value my sleep very much" I said in a whiny voice

"Yeah yeah, just get ready! I'm taking you out for breakfast before school"

I instantly sprung up from bed and I started fantasizing about the plate of waffles I would indulge.

"Don't tell me you fell asleep? Veronica?"

"Sorry no I'm here, I was just thinking about waffles but don't worry I should be ready in 30 minutes. Text me when you're outside"

We ended our call and I walked to the bathroom turning on the shower and starting my morning ritual.

After I had parted my hair in the middle, creating soft waves and beating my face for the day, it was the first day of school after all. I walked towards my closet and picked out an outfit.

I grabbed a pair of grey high wasted skinny jeans, wearing a black long sleeved bodysuit that had a cris-cross pattern where the chest area was, and finishing up the look with some lace up over the knee boots.

I grabbed my black leather backpack from the floor, throwing in all my school supplies.

I unhooking my phone from the charger and began walking down the stairs.

The house was extremely quite.

I checked my phone and it was 7:10, dad should be up by now? Of course mom is probably still passed out because of all the vodka she drowned down.

I started heading towards the door when I heard her voice.

I rolled my eyes my eyes so hard before turning towards her and faking a smile.

"Good morning mom"

"Veronica... About last night, I just wanna say I'm sorry for everything and for being rude to your friend"

She looked genuinely sorry and deep down I knew she was but it wasn't long till she would pull another stunt like this again.

"It's cool mom"
