BEFORE I START THIS STORY...
I want you all to know that this story is OPEN. By that, I mean that since this is a fan-fiction, if you comment and slightly describe a character you want in this story (It can even be yourself), I will put you in it! However, if this actually does become slightly popular, though I doubt it will, you will have to either wait or... well... give it up. So, that being said, the faster you comment, the faster you will be put into it. So with that...
Let the Tri-Wizard tournament begin!!!
Uh.
I mean the book.
Prologue
Harry Potter was born an only child to Lillian and James Potter. He was a happy baby boy and grew up to the age of 1, zooming around on a toy broomstick in the living room of their house in Godric Hollow. His mother was pregnant and glowing, happy to give Harry a sibling. When he turned two, she bore a baby girl by the name of Danica Potter. Her name meant, 'Morning Star' and she would resemble one to Harry as they grew up, without the comfort of their sweet parents. She would be the light and smile on his face, but for now, she was a mere infant.
"Lilly, she's beautiful." Murmured a smiling James as he stroked the cheek of the baby.
Harry gazed curiously up at the bundle of blankets held tenderly in his mother's arms. He was young, and still learning his English. It took a while, but he had understood by the time his mother had given birth, that he was a big brother. Big brother's had to protect their little sisters and keep them warm at night and loved no matter what. This is what Lilly taught him, and this is how Harry learned his compassion and understanding, no matter what he was to go through in the future.
James finally turned his attention to the boy at his side, smiling with watery eyes. "C'mon Harry, meet your sister."
He reached down and picked him up around the middle, lifting him to get a full view of the baby, who stared at him with intense eyes. They were round and wide, and the color of the sea, a crystal clear blue. Her cheeks were flushed, her lips a pale pink. Harry gazed at the child, curiousity burning in his green eyes before he finally bent down and kissed his sister's forehead. Lilly did this to him every night, and she told him one day he would do the same.
A sound escaped the proud mother as she started to cry, it was what she had always wanted. She had the family she'd always wanted. Through her tears, she couldn't help but think back on the days she spent in Hogwarts. Severus immediately came to mind and she frowned gently.
Severus and her hadn't parted on good terms, though he would always hold a special place in her heart. Afterall, he would always be her best friend. She hoped he would find happiness, the kind she found with her childen.
James took her by surprise by wiping away her tears. "It's getting late."
She nodded in agreement and he set Harry down.
The phone started to ring downstairs and James sighed, shaking his head. "It's probably Serius."
Laughing, she shooed him away and laid their daughter down in her crib before taking Harry's hand to get him ready for bed.
"I love baby sister," Harry told his mother, who beamed.
"We all love her, Harry. Just like we love you, and one day, when she gets older, she'll tell you she loves you too." Smiling at him, she stroked his messy head of hair before leaving him to brush his teeth. She left the bathroom to get his pajamas, and returned, helping him get dressed. As they reached his small room, she went to help him into his crib before the ground beneath them suddenly grumbled.
Gasping, Lilly stumbled, holding onto Harry tightly. 'An earthquake?' She thought.
Lilly was wrong. Shouts broke out downstairs, one voice rose about the rest, James. Death Eaters were here, and so was he. Who had given them up? How could she-- her thoughts were cut short by a scream of pain and then a choking sound.
"JAM--" She slammed a hand over her mouth, tears running down her face.
She grabbed Harry and made to run out the door and retrieve her daughter as well. As they ran down the hall, she tried to stay quiet. It was her only chance, if maybe they didn't know they were there. She swept into Danica's room, where she laid, on the verge of tears in her crib.
Harry's bright green eyes shot around the room, fear etched into his face. He was still a baby, and couldn't understand what was going on. The noise was scaring him, the sound of shattering glass and cackles downstairs while a lone pair of slow footsteps made their way up the stairs. Lilly rushed, picking up Danica in her arms and eyeing the window carefully.
They could make it down, they had to. There as a vine they could climb but, could she do it single-handedly? She glanced down at the baby. Her wand wasn't with her, in fact, it was downstairs. Harry tugged on his mothers sweater shirt, looking up at her expectantly. Lilly had to know what to do, because Lilly was the mother.
"Don't worry..." She said in a broken voice, trying to give him a confident look that would tell him there was nothing to worry about. "I have an important job for you. I need you to climb down all by yourself? Can you do that?" She went to the window and opened it, looking down. If he fell, the bushes could catch him without injuring him.
Harry slowly nodded, making his way over to the window to join his mother and sister.
"Okay, read--?" She began. The door swung open, a figure cloaked in black floating silently inside.
Lilly immediately grabbed her son, clutching him and her daughter to her chest. Tears dripped down from her cheeks, lightly falling on Harry's shirt.
"I'm sorry..." She said, shaking her head as she turned her head slightly in time to watch the figure raise a pale boney hand, producing a thick wand, and quickly letting a bright green light shoot her.
Lilly fell limp, still holding her children in death. Harry shook her slightly, staring at his mother's face with wide eyes.
"Mommy?" He asked, shaking her again before he was forced to look up at the approaching figure. He bent down and took hold of his sister, the best he could and watched the wand as it pressed against his skull. A sharp pain, and then there was nothing.
Blackness consumed him.
