I ask myself, is it better to be Selfish or Selfless? Not many can answer the question, but when they can answer they usually can't explain why. Only one has truthfully ever answered me but that was centuries ago, who knows where he is. Or if he still believes on his answer or alive for that matter. One would be surprised how time changes people.
I myself don't know the answer. But am between both selfishness and selflessness.
'Guess today i'm gonna be both'. I thought to myself as once again ducked under the over-sized claws.
Swiping 'hell fire' and aiming for some tendons to disable its arm, but instead just barely grazing its forest green scales.Quickly I somersaulted backwards as to not be hit.
Planning my next plan of attack, the sound of large flying object falling toward our battle brought me back from my thoughts. Suddenly a larger black shadow crashed over the green over sized flying lizard with wings, or more commonly known as a dragon. Time seamed to slow down as I watched another dragon stood on top of its enemy triumphantly. Its obsidian black scales shining brightly under the full moon.
Stunted I let my hands fall to my sides stunned, I watched as the larger and black dragon which seemed to be protecting me raised it wings and its tail like angry cat, wanting to intimidate its enemy away. The green dragon not fazed by it new opponent glanced towards me and let a mighty roar before launching towards my direction.
Quickly snapping out of my stupor, I tensed ready to dodge. But just as quickly the black dragon knocked the green one to the side with just a swipe of its tail. Knowing how dangerous a battle like this is at close range, once again I focused my energy and felt the black mist surround me starting from my feet up. Just before the mist blocked my sight, I caught the large dark beast reaching its hands towards me as to stop me from leaving.
Confused and not wanting to get hurt, I whispered "Reise" to myself.
Less than a second, I felt like thin air and then felt the mist quickly pushed me away from the danger and towards safety.
Once the mist stopped and disappeared into the air leaving me next to the outer door of the castle, now away from the fighting dragons. Through the whole commotion the strangest part was that the black dragon was familiar yet not at the same time. A distant memory tried to surface but when focused on it only brought pain.
I shook my head to clear my head. Turning my back to the battle,I used my powers to phased through the wooden door while placing a shield around the castle for extra measure. Once I finished and I looked around my eyes I found Hazel eyes staring right at me with a look of disbelief. Not caring I just passed his fallen form as he was still sitting on the ground.
Then a small tug from my cloak stopped me from moving any further. Luckily the cowl was still up and the shadows casted by the darkness covered my face, if not then sleeping beauty here would try and escape making my job harder.
Tugging my cloak away from his grasp In a monotone I said " Do not do that again".
Then turned and walked towards the broken down door.
As I was walking over broken pieces of wood, stones, and old weapons. I heard the shifting of clothes and the shuffling of shoes signaling the man was following. Once the man and I entered the fortress, I let mist reconstruct the door out of the wooden pieces and casted a spell to alert if anyone enters or leaves. With that done I glanced around familiarizing myself with my new extremely temporary 'base'.
I was standing on what seemed a light purple carpet with gold accents. Columns line both sides, some broken and others just cracked or just nothing at all. At the end of the hallway was large staircase leading up. Some of the steps gone. On some edges of the stone plants grew giving some life to the room.
Admiring the beauty of how mystical this place might look if it was well taken care of, I continued on my path to the left where another wooden door stood. Guessing that the door must lead to a lounge room or a kitchen, both greatly needed. I opened both doors to find a large hallway with doors on the right and color tinted windows shining in the moon light showing some old legend Im well familiar with. Some of the windows where broken while others just dusty.
Some torch holders hung on the wall, a few with some unlighted torches and others just empty. Grabbing the closest one and using magic to light it up. I watched as a blue fire came to life with flecks of purple in the center instead of the usual red and yellow flames. Walking forward with the torch in had, I reached the end of the hallway with a wooden door moldy and seemingly the only one with a lock on it.
Curiously I kicked the door right of the hinges with a well placed kick .
BAMM!! the sound echoing down spiraling stairs.
It was at that moment that a loud roar was heard then came the sound of cracking stone, and if one listened the sound of cracking bones could also be heard. At the same time the green barrier I placed on the outer wall Shatterd. I looked out the broken window and was meet with a bloodied green heap of scales on the ground, surrounded by broken pieces of stone ranging any sizes. Then I look up to see the black dragon with few scratches, standing proudly.
As i continued staring in awe our gazes meet. Knowing it could take less than a minute to destroy this castle, I quickly made a beeline for the stairs. Taking the steps two at a time and jumping over some ready to crumble under some pressure. Using my magic every torch i passed instantly light up in black. As for the torch in my hand light up in many colors showing my emotion as each color appears then vanishes and the next on lights up.
Finally noticing my strange behavior and how the colors change with my emotion. I then took a deep breath and slowed down. In my line of sight was the bottom. Just before landing from jumping over another two broken stairs, the whole building shook and some pieces of stone fell from the ceiling. Landing on the stairs and the floor making me lose my balance and almost fall. Not a second later the sound of a piercing scream could be heard up the stairs. Dread filled my body as the scream was followed by another roar and even more rumbling.
