The Farewell
‘Oh Sarah, Sarah honey…thank you so much..’ mum sobbed
‘Please mother, I am not doing this for you, I am doing this for my sister, she is my only family, you and your husband do not mean anything to me. You are no longer my parents’
‘Sarah, please don’t say that’ dad begged, with silent tears rolling down his face
‘NO, I have made up my mind, you both meaning nothing to me, you used me, ruined my life and you both had no right. I will never forgive you.’
‘Never.’
On that note, Sarah stormed up the stairs to her dearest sister, Gabby.
Sarah, slowly opened the door and saw Gabby peacefully sleeping on her king size bed, Sarah smiled at the sight and quietly closed the door, making sure it wouldn’t creak, so Gabby wouldn’t wake up.
Sarah stormed to her small room, that had bright red and soft purple coloured walls, and single bed squashed into the corner of her room. Compared to Gabbys grand room, Sarahs bedroom was tiny. But she loved it, it was her heaven, her comfort zone, where she could relax and not worry about anything.
Sarah took a deep breath, and lied down on her bed, staring at her room ceiling, which was covered in glow in the dark stars. She didn’t care if people thought it was childish, she loved the night sky and the glow in the dark stars made it easier for her to relax.
But tonight, the stars where not working their magic, a thousands thought at one time were zooming around in Sarah’s head, and not matter how much she tried she couldn’t stop them.
Yes she was adopted, she knew this all along, her parents had been honest with her. But she always loved them as her real parents, she never thought that they had raised her so they so trade her into the arrange marriage.
Throughout her life, her parents had always loved Gabby more; Gabby would get the bigger room, more spending allowance, more freedom, she would always be the first preference, but Sarah never looked into it too much, because Gabby meant the world to her.
Sarah knew that she had made the right decision, by agreeing for the arrange marriage. She owed Gabby a lot in her life, when she felt alone in this world Gabby was the one person she could turn to, her parents never provided her with the comfort and love she craved for as a child and now a teenager. Gabby was the only one who stayed by her side.
Accepting the arrange marriage seemed to be a small price to pay. Sarah could do this, she would do this for Gabby and for the wellbeing of Gabby’s future. She would never want Gabby to sacrifice anything for Sarah, Gabby has been too kind to her already.
With her mind made up, Sarah drifted into a restless sleep.
