Prologue
He stood proud and tall, as the metal clashed together. He kneeled loyally as his rider placed the war plates on his legs. His eyes were distant, looking at the raging battle ahead of him. His father's had fought in war. It was his noble duty to do so.
The rider gulped, He was only a young man, the mere age of twenty seven. His whole life ahead of him. For the past three hundred years, this battle had been fought, his father had stood here ready to take an army to battle.
He didn't know what to do, although his many years of training, he had no memory of battle skills. He leaned against the great beast he would ride upon in a few minutes. With his chin high he climbed onto the almighty dragon before calling attention to all standing near.
He was about depart his village, possibly forever. " People." he started, his voice was clear and pristine, although inside he was shaking much like the woman and children staring up at him from the crumbling village.
A crack of thunder shot through the town.
The boy's mother was one of the trembling and at that moment her twenty seven year old son wasn't a boy any more, at that moment the lightning lighting up his hard face the mother saw a man, the man his father used to be. It killed the mother to let him go, she staggered forwards and gripped his hand looking up at him.
The boy looked at his mother and nodded his head. She looked up at him with pleading eyes, hoping that he didn't leave her.
The boy looked at his mother's frail figure clutching him like a life line, he knew him leaving her would hurt her, But he he had a duty to his small, failing town. The mother let go before limping to a step, whimpering slightly, on the verge of tears.
A flicker of pain flashed across the mans features before he straightened up and continued to speak looking to the thunder gathering around the air filed. " I-" his voice failed as his mother's whimper become louder and she broke out in sobs. Hurt and sorrow wound their way into his solemn face, another elderly woman ran towards the shaking figure of the man's mother. A lump formed in his throat and a tear streaked down his face.
" I am going to lea-ve." his voice cracked showing the first signs of weakness hidden underneath his serious brow. The dragon nudged him forwards encouraging him to continue. " We will go with all the pride this town is made of. We will help all who are sane to rid this kingdom of the Rendeavours evil works." He finished, In a movie many cry's of agreement would sound but here in reality the sadness could not be changed by a bravura speech.
He looked to the heaven's and prayed his mother would live trough his departure.
He called the small army of the best rider's to attention before mounting and encouraging his dragon to enter the battle field.
He set a detirmined path straight towards the middle of the battle field.
