Saverio didn't answer any of my questions during the ride. I wanted to know why he helped me along with Emanuele because in doing so they were both risking their lives. I don't know what excuses they would give Raimondo about my escape once he is informed about me, because if he found out that Emanuele had anything to do with my getaway, he will surely kill him regardless of how much he considers him like his son. The only way out of betraying their family for them was death.

That made my heart clench, and it wasn't an act.

Saverio stopped the car near the entrance of the airport and I saw Ben already standing there, waiting for us. Opening my door, I ran to him and he immediately engulfed me into a hug. "Jade you okay?"

I nodded my head.

"I am so sorry for not being able to protect you..."

"How did you free Raimondo?"

"The department is very disappointed and in chaos. We thought that he was finally caught. He could have gone in prison for a long time Jade, but we had to let him go after we got a call from Emanuele. Your life is important." He smiled at me but I could see the signs of distress on his face.

"I am sorry Ben!" my eyes watered. He has always done so much for me even when I cussed him out or shunned him just because I thought he was responsible for Charlie being where he is right now. But he is always risking everything for me, first his job and now his life.

He just patted me on my back.

We both turned to Saverio as he got out of the car and stood in front of us. "I would suggest you get moving before they send others to look for you." He directed at me. "And as for you lieutenant, Capo wants you to stay low for a while as well because you will be the one they will come to looking for Jade."

Ben nodded and picked up my duffel bag from the ground by his feet which I hadn't noticed there before. He handed it to me. "It has everything Jade, your passport, ticket to Irvine, California and some cash. I have also brought you a new cell phone and only I have the number."

I nodded my head and swallowed. "Thank you for everything Ben."

He gave me a small smile and pushed me towards the airport. Glancing back I saw Saverio get back in the SUV and drive away. I gave Ben one last glance before making my way inside.

I was sitting on a chair in the waiting area for fifteen minutes now, waiting for the call to board the plane. Observing the busy airport around me and watching ordinary people having their casual chats, living through a regular day and going on with their everyday lives I was struck hard with the realization that I was envious of them. I was envious of them because their life was ordinary and not so long ago Charlie and I were among these people. They are living their lives without a care in the world, being mundane and normal. They are not waiting to get shot to death at every step of the way and running away for their lives. They are not living in fear and don't have to deceive death in order to snatch at every breath. I would give anything to be normal again.

But I would never take back meeting and getting to know Emanuele. I would have just preferred under different circumstances and not when I had to save my brother from their claws. I have come to care for him and maybe will continue to do so even if he kills me with his own hands. I don't even want to run away knowing that Emanuele's life is in danger along with my brother's now. But I know Ben isn't going to give me another choice and it was my only option.
