What is the weight of a human life? Peter asked himself as he walked through the crowded halls of his highschool. He had taken a life yet life continued undisturbed as if nothing had happened. He laughed inwardly, it seemed life held no significance in the passage of time. Everyone was destined to die and be forgotten thus making life itself meanignless.

He sighed and went through his usual routine of being harassed and ignored by students and teachers alike. They tried to break his spirit but he wasn't himself. He felt detached as if he was watching another person's life unfold through the lenses of a microscope. HE was watching Peter's pathetic life.

"Worms" HE thought as HE gritted his teeth."This was not his life, this wouldn't be Peter's life for long"

Thankfully lunch came to stop his hatred from overcoming his rationality. A bright smile greeted him and HE followed that smile. HE smiled despite the looks of disgust He received.

Peter's only solace from this hell was his time with Amelia. She didn't judge or ridicule him, instead she accepting him unconditionally. However, a fear nabbed at his heart, what if all this was a facade? What if the Amelia who smiled at him was an illusion that hid a girl that was as vicious as the rest of them? Peter had suppresed that fear and chosed to believe in Amelia. He didn't want to be alone, he needed someone, anyone to acknowledge his existence.

It was truly pitiful to project one's desires onto another person. To become psychologically and emotionally dependant onto another person. HE was different in that HE could withstand the weight of the world by himself. HE couldn't understand the need to be accepted or understood by others.

"Something is different about you," Amelia said stopping his train of thought, " You're acting more um cool I guess"

"Really?" HE asked questionally, " Please tell me how am I acting differently."

"Well you seem more distant as if you're obseving life rather than living it...um sorry if my explanation wasn't that good,"

"I'm impress that you're able to see all that from just this level of interaction," HE responded.

"Well I don't see anything different with him Amelia. He is the same old geeky Peter," Rachel said mockingly with a pretty face that hid her horrid personality.

"Don't be mean to our little friend here Rachel. Let him be special for once," Zack sneered.

Peter felt  hatred toward them, especially Zack. He vividly remembered all the beatings and humiliation at the hands of Zack. However, this behavior displayed the weakness in Zack's heart. Zack validated his existence from being the best and to prove this he needed to grind those weaker than him. HE saw it as a pitiful existence, even more so than Peter's.

"Ignore them Peter," Amelia said annoyed, "Anyway lets study for chemistry,"

This comment made a vein pop in Zack's forehead. It was evident that Zack had a thing for Amelia and it infuriated him that she didn't returned his feelings. Rachel on the other hand, hated Amelia for being more attractive than her and for being Zack's romantic interest. It was all so meaningless and pitiful HE could just laugh.

Lunch ended and HE and Amelia headed towards the next period. HE observed her, wondering what made her special to Peter. She was the same as everyone else, the only difference was she showed Peter kindness. However, HE could feel a change occur within him the longer HE stayed with her. The coldnes in his heart melted and Peter emerged.

Peter's hands became clampy and his insides made front flips. He couldn't believe he was walking together with Amelia. He tried to contol his thumping heart but his efforts proved futile. He became overly self-conscious and prayed his distres wasnt being proyected to other people, especially Amelia.

"Welcome back Peter," He heard a voice say next to him.

He turned around a gave Amelia a quizzical look.

"Welcome back?"

"Never mind it's that I prefer this side of you. It feels warm...anyway we are here," she responded with a smile.

"This is side of me?" Peter didn't know what Amelia meant. Where there two sides of him? Unable to find the answer to this riddle he shifted his mind to the lesson.

School ended and Peter began changing without knowing. His mind became cooler and calculating. He ignored his surroundings and his conscious, focusing only on erasing all evidence of yesterday's incident. He bought all the  necessary supplies from the convenience store and headed towards the outskirts of town. He arrived at the place and began the exhausting process.

Nightfall arrived and finally his worked was finished. All traces of blood had been cleaned away and the body disposed off in the town's abondon park. With a satisfied smile he went home. This was going to be one hell of a week.
