"Alright pooka, let's see what mommy can buy for your grandma to cook," Reyan said, as she settled Emanie into the Walmart basket, before buckling her up.
The baby just grabbed the pacifier that was clipped on her shirt and placed it into her mouth.
Emanie was now reaching seven months old, and Reyan was only being reminded of how much she resembled her father the older she got.
Ever since Emanie was born, Reyan and Eric's relationship had took a drastic turn. It wasn't anything like she'd expected.
Eric spent more time out on the streets or handling business as he would put it, however when it came to Emanie he could've won father of the year award, far as she was concerned.
He made it his business to spend time with Emanie along with all of his other kids, but Reyan was the one left alone trying to figure out just what exactly went wrong between the two of them.
The few times that they did spend together, her attitude towards Eric was not the same. She knew he could tell simply, because she never tried to hide it, but not once did he ever speak on it.
Needless to say, Reyan was tired of not knowing what it really felt like to have a man to love her at all times, but she never complained. Emanie had given her all the love in the world every time she would smile and that was good enough for her.
Her and Eric's relationship may have declined, but her love never wavered, and it showed as she happily wore the ring he'd given to her back when she was pregnant with Emanie.
This showed that she was more than willing to wait for the man she loved to come around, whenever that maybe.
Reyan smiled and leaned down to kiss Emanie softly on the forehead. Christmas was just around the corner and since this would be Emanie's first, she wanted it to be special.
Which is why she decided to have her own little get together in her new house, surrounded with her friends and family including her parents.
She would even help Pam prepare the Christmas dinner, however, that required her having to buy all of the food, the one thing she hated the most.
As Reyan turned the corner to the grocery aisle, she stared down at her list. She chuckled a little as she listened to Emanie babble to herself as she shook her pacifier around in her hand.
"Pooka, what are you talking about? Huh?" She cooed.
Suddenly, without paying attention, she felt her basket crash into another one. She jerked her head up, her eyes wide, "oh my God! I am so sorry!" She exclaimed.
"No, it's my fault I was obviously on the wrong side," she heard a slightly deep voice say.
"No, it's my fault I should've been paying attention to where I was go-" she paused and lowered eyebrows when she got a good look at the gentleman standing in front of her.
"K-Kevin?" She stammered.
"That's my name, who wants to know?" He asked, slightly lifting his chin up.
"It's me Reyan! You know? Reyan from the park and the movie date?" She asked, trying her best to rack his brain.
She was relieved, when the confused look on Kevin's face turned into a big smile, "oh shit! Hey Raye! How you been?" He asked as he made his way over to give Reyan a tight hug.
"I've been good, wow! It's been a while since I've seen you!" She chuckled.
"Yeah, I know I mean I tried getting in contact with you after that little movie date we had, but I guess you had other things in mind."
