A Whole New World

                Lily was looking out her bedroom window at all the land that had once been so beautiful, but since the war nothing seemed to want to grow in their town anymore. The war had been so devastating; many people had been killed including Lily's mother. She now lived with her older brother James in a small house. If that wasn't enough that she had to deal with the government who took complete control of their town, when the war ended. The government was afraid of another war happening and being even worst this time, so they took things into their own hands. They had told us it would be for the best of the town for them to take over and set new rules, but I beg to differ. Lily hears the alarm go off and sighed. It was the town clock that was set to wake kids up to get ready for school and adults for work. She got up and headed for her dresser and grabbed her school uniform and got dressed for school. This had been one of the changes the government decided to make to "better the town." School was not the only place that you had to wear uniforms though, you had a set pajamas and evening wear. You had a few chooses to pick from but that was it. This change was one of the things that Lily and James hated the most. There lack of having individual freedoms. Lily and James always had grown up with a very different sense of style than everyone else because of their mother. They hated not be able to show that style off to the world in memory of their mother. Lily looked at the time then ran to her brother’s room and knocked on his door vigorously.  “James James are you ready? I am going to be late for school. I don’t want to get in trouble again, you know I can only be late so many times or the people higher up will come and question us or take me away!” James opened the door and grabbed his work jacket that was hanging on the hook next to his door. “Relax Lily am ready, just head out the door am behind you.”  She wiped her eyes after she realized that she had been crying then she did what her brother had told her. She sat down outside on the front steps waiting for him. He went into the kitchen and grabbed Lily and himself something to eat then when out the door.
