The sound of foot steps running around my floor startle me awake. I pop straight up and look around but, nothings there. I look around hearing a pitter patter beneath my bed and i freeze. It cant be a condor its not even a full moon. A condor is what we called the evil things, they were little black creatures that looked like rotting souls. They only show during the full moon and thats if the sacrifice was done wrong or not at all. The tale says that they'll sneak in your home and take the eyes of the youngest child. I've never come face to face with one and I didn't plan on it anytime soon. I sit quietly as I hear the pitter patter again. "Screw this" I say slowly leaning over to look underneath my bed. I lean just enough for my eyes to see the pitch dark space between my bed and the ground, my long blonde hair half way on the floor. When I feel an object jump onto my bed. I turn quickly trying to scream but nothing came out when I see my dog Pipers goofy face. I sigh with relief and pat her head till she lies down and snuggles with me. I close my eyes hoping to get some rest at some point tonight. "What were you doing you dumb dog?" I quested in the silence of the night. Expecting no answer I turn over and snuggle down in the covers. My hearts still racing, being an only child I guess I could be considered the youngest and the oldest. Condors aren't the only things out there, there just one of the many bad things that can happen. It all relies on that full moon sacrifice, no its not human. Well always human and that sounds really bad. The sacrifice if it is an animal has to be hunted the night of the full moon making it dangerous. Once you turn 18 you get trained to go out and hunt. Sometimes you don't make it back but when you dont... you became the sacrifice for that full moon and everything is peaceful until the next one. You can say we live in a constant nightmare, the nightmare of a full moon.
