After my night of utter excitement.. Thanks piper. I was especially ready for training despite the MAJOR lack of sleep. I didn't want my eyes taken and if I could do anything in my power to stop that I would. Not just for me, for all the kids in this town. Each town here was different, each had their own demon to deal with in different ways. Very few people lived in our town due to the fact that most people disappear on hunts. Theres only even been 3 people to come back from a run. First was about 30 years ago, her name was Jenny and she was the fastest runner in her group of the time. Back then they only ran 1 or rarely 2 kids at a time. Not knowing the true danger that lurked in that forest. Well that night they sent two out and her and her partner Nick got caught by the Condors but if your lucky they'll spare you. There being two Jenny got to escape feeding poor Nick to the dangers. Since then they got really into training and thats how the second runner came back alive. Brandon, 13 years ago a guy named Brandon volunteered to go on the run, the rest of the runners were still pretty new and inexperienced and he wanted them to live. He took off into the woods heading straight for the traps he has laid earlier that night hoping to had caught something. When he reached the traps whatever he had caught was gone and he was safe to go back. Just pure luck that guy had that night, we haven't been able to lay traps and catch things in enough time since he did. The third runner is well Me, I don't know how I do it but I just do. I have come back many a times, but sadly my fellow runners have not been so lucky. I have never had trouble going in hunting and coming out before midnight. The deadline, if you hadn't caught anything by then, well they catch you. So from sun down to midnight is when we have to hunt and its not easy in the pitch dark. Lights upset the Condors so we dont use them, we also cant use guns, noise upset them too. Deer and anything fast is out of the question, you just hope to god you find a rabbit or a few squirrels.
