Chapter 2
Saturday, May 4
I think I found him. I think I've found "the one." I know it's silly... "us being together," but we really want to make this work. I want to make this work. Everyone hates us though. They hate two boys being together...I don't think Michael hates me though...

Monday, May 6
He showed me his scars today. It was surreal...I had no idea. He told me: "this is what I would have to deal with." I don't care if he has scars, I still love him. I want to help him but I just don't know how. What am I supposed to say? What am I meant to do?

Friday, July 12
It's been awhile, hasn't it?
Summer has been great so far. I got to stay at his house a lot. It's just a bit embarrassing to talk about...
--------
Friday, July 19
Dan is staying with me! I'm so happy he moved to this town rather than the one almost an hour away! In other news, school is starting next month...I'd prefer not think about that though.
--------
Saturday, August 10
I haven't heard from him today.
I hope he's okay.

Sunday, August 11
This is so hard to write. Not because my tears are clouding my vision, although that might be a significant part of it. I received the call just before noon...it was all so sudden. I feel like someone just stabbed me in the heart then twisted the knife. I can't deal with anything right now.
I just want to be alone.

Tuesday, August 13
Dan and I stayed at home today. He made me talk to him and it honestly helped some.
I wish he was still here.
Because I think I understand now. I think I know what I should have said. I suppose it's too late now...

Gavin wandered into high school weeks later. He kept the hood on his jacket tugged up, covering his head, and his hands buried his pockets, refusing to expose himself to the cruel world around him. Some people gave him sympathetic glances, and other people shot him venomous glares. Whatever, fuck all of them. Gavin stalked silently through the halls, dodging others as he made his way to his first class of the day. He didn't want anything any of them had to offer. Not after what they did to him.
He was doing well avoiding people. In a way, they all actually seemed terrified of him. He almost reached his class uninterrupted until there was a bump at his back.
"Shit, sorry." The boy who bumped into him stepped back. Gavin turned to see Michael, "Gavin?" Michael realized who it was, then slipped off his headphones leaving them to rest around his neck.
"Michael." Gavin said blankly. Michael in return offered him a sympathetic smile.
"Don't you have a class to go to?" Gavin asked weakly.
