~CHAPTER FIFTEEN~

JULIAN'S POV

I went in my car and started the engine... Still feeling bad about what happened a while ago...

Why? Why her?! Why Lois?!

Can somebody please tell me why?!

NARRATOR'S POV

As Julian parked his car through the driveway, he sighed and banged his head on the steering wheel.

He hated the feeling that he felt useless. He hated the fact that no matter what he does, he can't really bring her memory back instantly...

He looked up and sighed then went out of his car.

Then he went in and saw Jayden drinking hot milk.

"Hey Jules!" Jayden greeted him and he noticed that his face was lonely. "What's up with the Good Friday face?"

"Nothing. Just tired." Julian replied as he put the keys on the key holder and then he sat on the stool near the counter where Jayden was drinking.

"Girl problems?" he asked.

"Nope." he replied.

"Liar."

Julian shot him a look.

"Tell me, is there anything that's been bothering you?" Jayden asked.

"Can you keep a secret?" Julian asked.

"Well... Yeah. Depends." He said. Julian sighed and looked at him in the eye, "I'm serious, Jaydo."

"Of course. I can." Jayden said. "What is it?"

Julian took a deep breath and took his phone out. He flicked through his photos on his phone and showed to Jayden.

"It's you and Courtney." Jayden said.

"Actually Jayden... That's Lois." Julian said and Jayden was shell-shocked.

"Y-You mean, Courtney is really Lois?!" he asked in surprise. Julian just nodded.

"She's alive." Julian said.

"W-wait... If she's alive, then how did her name became Courtney?" he asked again. "What happened? I'm confused."

"After the plane crashed, there's this woman named Leanne who found her at the other end of the beach and took her in to take care of her. Since she lost her memory, Leanne gave her a temporary name, which is the name COURTNEY." he replied.

"If she lost her memory, then that means that she can't remember you."

Julian just nodded.

"I know it hurts Jules but you know, I believe in the saying that 'The mind forgets but the heart doesn't'." Jayden said.

Then he laughed. "What's funny, Mr. De Vizio?" Jayden asked.

"I told Lois that saying. And I used to believe in that too but..." Julian trailed off.

"But what?"

"But... That saying seemed to be impossible right now."

"Julian, nothing's impossible. And what the heart remembers is the most important. She might not know or remember everything about you but I know that deep in her heart she does..."

He smiled at him and somehow, he hoped that Jayden' s right.

**

"Lois, you are currently suffering from Amnesia and now you're just starting to remember." Leanne said as she stroke her short black hair with her hand right hand. "That's just a piece of memory, Lois. It's not yet the whole memory."

"But what if it is?" Lois asked while sobbing. "What if Julian's just lying to me?!"

"Do you really think that he could do that?" she asked her. And Lois fell silent.

"Based on my judgement at Julian, he's a great guy. He's the type of guy that you'd never want to let go." Leanne said to her. "And he's not the type who would lie to others."

Lois just groaned.

"Lois, if he's lying, then why did he stand by you all this time?" she said.

"I don't know." Lois said.

"See? You know, it's just a part of your memory." she said. "Why don't you wait for a few more days until you remember your other memories?"

Lois nodded. "Now, go to sleep. Okay?" Leanne said.

"I wish you are my mother." Lois said. "I wish I can remember who my parents are."

"You will remember them, one day." she said then she left her room and Lois fell asleep.

As she fell into a deep slumber, she dreamed about her parents... It was more likely a flashback.

**FLASHBACK**

"Oh! We're moving to Adelaide."

"Mom, do we really have to move?"

"Lois, life's better in Adelaide than here in Perth. And don't you want to be closer to your cousins? I thought you miss them already."

"I do but... Of course. I grew up here. I've made friends here ever since I was in kindergarten."

"Oh, I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't be that bad."

**

"Lois, I told you not to put your fringe down!"

"Lois!"

"Lois!"

"Lois!"

**END OF FLASHBACK**

And then Lois suddenly screamed in her sleep, "MOM!!! Where are you?! Come back! I'm still alive!"

**

Meanwhile, back in Adelaide, Tanya woke up from her sleep suddenly and sat up on their bed.

"What's wrong?" Thomas asked her.

"Thomas... I saw Lois in my sleep. She was crying, looking for me... She was asking me to come back to her... She said that she's still alive." Tanya said as she burst into tears and he hugged her.

"Hush now. It's just a dream." Thomas said as he tried to held his tears back. "It's just a dream."

But deep inside, they both wished that her dream would come true.

Accepting the fact that Lois was gone forever from their lives was hard for the whole family, especially for Tanya.

**

Leanne rushed into her room and hugged her.

"Hush now. It's just a dream." she said.

"Leanne, it wasn't just a dream. It's a part of my memory!" Lois said, her cheeks were tear-stained. They both fell silent and stared at each other.
