B E N ' S P O V :

You know when life starts to make a turn downhill? When everything you had suddenly crashes down right in front of you? But afterwards, it starts back up again, and suddenly you're grateful for what you have. I was foolish and stupid for ever saying those five words that made Mal feel horrible. My bad on that Freudian slip. It was like drawing out a knife and stabbing her. We were so close to losing what we had. Our relationship. But that happened two weeks ago, and Mal and I decided to look to the future, instead of digging up the past.

Chad's mouth had been zipped up to keep him shut from ever saying anything again for a month. I'm not kidding. Apparently, Mal had cursed Chad to replace his mouth with a zipper that zips itself up permanently, and he's been scared to even approach the both of us since then. Charmaine, on the other hand had been sent back home to Charmington. Mal has consistently reminded me to never visit there ever again, and I quite agree. Audrey and Jay had become the newest couple in Auradon (saw it coming), and I heard Audrey had a new nickname for him - 'Jay Bae'. Brrr.

Carlos had finally found someone else as well - Jane. She happened to confess to him after the ball, and he seemed happy and shy with his new girlfriend. I was truly glad for him. He punched some sense into me and saved my relationship with Mal.

I suddenly felt something tickling my neck. I looked down to see Mal, her hair tied beautifully into a braid, had been tickling my neck. We were snuggled under some large blankets, watching a romance flick. I didn't exactly detest them, nor did I enjoy them either. But seeing Mal so intrigued in the movie made me happy, and besides, she was feeding me popcorn. My room was dark except the light coming from the TV screen. The curtains had been closed and the fan that was blowing us was the only thing that had been keeping me cool from the fact that Mal was so close to me.

I felt my body heating up when Mal pressed closer to my chest, murmuring an 'I love you' to me as the credits began to play. I smiled and returned her with a kiss. We just laid our heads on each other, watching the credits roll. The remote was on the table inches away from us, but we both didn't make an effort to move or get up from our cosy position.

I was knee deep in paperwork and legal documents. The pressure with being King was starting to take a toll on me, and I knew it would make me lose my temper, but Mal had been there with me the entire process, supporting me by making small treats like chocolate chip cookies - not spelled ones, of course. She's been helping me a lot by attending state dinners and speeches that I had to make. I was glad that she wasn't showy nor timid towards the media glare.

Mal was starting to become more comfortable with my parents - she actually spends more time with Mom having girl talks with her rather than having dates with me! I was a little jealous and uncomfortable about that. I hoped Mom didn't say anything embarrassing to her that could ruin my image of the golden boy of Auradon Prep. I knew Mal was nicer now, but she still retained her mischievous side. The news about me peeing in class when I was twelve would bound to spread around if it reached the ears of Mal. Dad keeps telling me how awesome she was at waltzing, which really surprised me. I didn't know that she knew how to waltz. I can't imagine it being taught to her while she was growing up at the Isle. Do Villains even know how to dance?

I felt warmth in my body dissipate as Mal tore herself away from me, getting up to retrieve the remote and switching the TV off. I grumbled and signalled her to come back over and snuggle with me again. "Sorry Ben, I have a sleepover to attend to." My eyebrows rocketed skyward. "With whom?" I knew Mal for a fact that she hated sleepovers. She just didn't like discussing her private life with the King of Auradon to the other girls in Auradon Prep. I could sorta understand that. "Your mother." She giggled, before reaching over to grab her bag from my bed and swaggered over to the door.

My body reacted automatically. I shot out of my seat and grabbed her hand, kissing her cheek tenderly. "Sleep with me instead." I said. Her face turned bright red until I realised what happened.

Oops. That came out wrong.

I began stuttering.

"I-I-I didn't mean it that way.."

Mal simply giggled and bit her lip. Gosh, she's been doing that a lot. "I have to go now, Ben." She gave me a hug. She exited out the door and walked down the long stretch of the hallway.

"You'll always be a princess to me!" I shouted to the shrinking figure. "I know!" I heard her yell, turning to smile at me warmly.

I gave a contented smile. "I love you." I murmured.
