AN: Okay so here's my first story. I'm not that into it right now so maybe if I get a few reads I'll update more often. I'll also try to make long chapters, but then it'll take longer to write, but anyways. Have fun reading!

Chapter 1-I meet a goth guy named Nico

Maya POV:

It was a regular day at school. Well, as regular as you can get when you're me. I should probably introduce myself. I'm Maya Soliz. I'm thirteen, I go to school in Lincoln, Nebraska, and I'm in the eighth grade. You could call me a troublemaker. I don't do anything really bad, just annoy the teachers a bit. Okay, a lot.

Right now I'm in math, the last class of the day, and my ADHD is really acting up. I can't concentrate on one problem at a time and only bits and pieces actually get processed. Even better, there's two guys in front of me that are trying to steal things from my desk.

They do it all the time and we get in trouble for it. We end up horsing around until the teacher yells at us to stop, shut up, and get back to work. Honestly though, they're my best and only friends.

The first one is Damien Rhodel, strange name, I know. He has short curly black hair and brown eyes. He has a leg disorder causing him to not be able to do P.E. or any other physical activities. Even with that though, he's still the biggest jokester in the grade. Well, I think so. Nobody else really pays attention to him.

The next one was Michael Grawn. He wasn't as big of a clown as Damien, but he was still up there. He had shaggy blond hair and blue eyes, and has ADHD, like I do.

And then there's me. I have long wavy brown hair with green eyes. I have fair skin that burns easily and never tans.

Damien, Michael, and I are like the outsiders in the grade. Not really friends with anybody except ourselves. You'd expect us to have a whole bunch of friends because we're funny, but nope, not us.

Michael's hand sneaking towards my desk knocked me out out of my daze. "Not today Michael," I said as I slapped his hand away.

"Oh come on? Can't you just let me do something for once?"

"Once?" I snorted. "More like ten thousand times. And don't even think about it Damien."

Damien quick snatched my book after I said that. He probably thought I didn't notice him.

"Okay, give it back now," I told Damien.

Damien started to taunt me. "I don't think so, let's see what it is. Uh huh. 'The Lightning Thief.' Well, wouldn't it be a shame if the bookmark just, fell out?"

"Don't do it," I said threateningly.

Damien said, "Oops," and let the bookmark fall out.

"Damien Rhodel!" I yelled as I stood up.

Everybody looked up from the work they were doing. Some of the boys smirked while the girls had disapproving looks on their faces. "Is there a problem, Miss Soliz?" the teacher, Mr. Genyet, asked.

I looked down. "Uh, no sir, sorry," I mumbled as I sat back in my seat.

Damien and Michael teased in a sing-song voice, "Someone got in trouble, someone got in trouble."

"Oh shut up for once will ya? God, you guys are so annoying. Emphasis on the annoying part."

They chorused, "Maya, as long as we live, we will never stop annoying you. You should know that by now. Honestly we've only said it a few couple hundred times!"

"Fine but at least can you guys let me get back to work?" I asked.

"Oh come on, you know you can't concentrate. And that I can't even read the words because of my dyslexia," Michael said.
