I arrived at yet another kingdom, an isolated kingdom far apart from most. I sensed that this one is different, though. It was a gloomy environment, a less inviting accommodation. It felt cloudy and dark.

The first couple of kingdoms wouldn't take me in, and it wasn't long before I'd given up. So much so, I had lost count of the number of kingdoms I've visited. I had to resort to using a different name, but some still recognized me. The first nights were the hardest, the shortage of food made me worry and the lack of comfort left me remorseful.

Some kingdoms were kind enough to spare me a sack or two but like my sanity, it won't last.

I tripped on some rock and landed on the dark ground. As I reached for my head I glanced down to see a crimson liquid that matched several locations on my body. I groaned in pain but who would hear me anyway? No one heard me and no one cares. Crows in the distance fly in their flock and my voice echoed through this forest. They said I was such blessing but really I was just a disappointment. I also cried for a few nights but, it made me realize something. I should save that water because I'm gonna need it. I promised myself to never shed a tear again.

"All they ever wanted was the best for you." "All they wanted was to see you happy." "They do this because they LOVE you."

The voices of maids in my head never stopped, it only grew worse over time. It was like my mind debated over what I wanted to do and what I was supposed to do.

A twig cracked not so far away to interrupt my gaze but I remained calm. It wasn't like this was new. I relaxed my muscles and cracked my knuckles.

"Dinner? Is it a rabbit? Squirrel?" I thought. Yeah, I thought.

"Don't move!" A husky voice shouted. I sighed, yet another ambush. I heard the sound of weapons taken out of their belt buckles. Surprisingly it wasn't guards or anyone of authority. I didn't feel threatened, so, I continued on my way. I walked toward the kingdom minding my own business. Men covered in ink and dirty clothing was a new one. No heavy armor, horses or, a stupid flag. Who are they? For once I wasn't bored to death.

"HEY! I said stop!" The voice repeats. I shooed him with my hand and with the other I yawned. I guess I lied, I was still pretty bored. All at once they came to me, blocking my view of the distant kingdom, surrounding me in a circle. Yes, they were big, tall, scary entities. But that didn't scare me one bit. I've learned in the past that talking does not solve problems. It only creates them. Another man smirks at my actions.

"Where do you think you're going?" The snickering man points to my chest. I only stared at him and his buddies. I was surrounded by an angry mob, it looks like. With no way to escape this awfully smelling situation, I decided that there was no other way than to take them out.

"SPEAK!" A harsher voice demanded. I slapped the pointed finger away, giving them a death stare.

"Oh, the little lady fights?" They joked and laughed. They were coming up with different ways to tease and put me down. But this was no time for jokes. While they were distracted I kicked two men to the ground. Rocks and spots of red covered their bodies. Another came at me and I gave him a punch the jaw that knocked him out as he hit a tree. I jumped high and kicked two guys at once, both in the head. Without looking back I punched a man with the back of my hand, and I dodged a hit by a baseball bat by bringing the man forward. I pushed him to the guy with the bat. I took the weapon and I continued fighting but they didn't stand a chance against me. I observed that there were no more men to eradicate. One drop of sweat made its way into my brow and I wiped it away. I took their backpack and some remaining supplies and carried on my way to the kingdom.

A tap on my shoulder disturbed my peace and I quickly bounce back to reality. I turn and I pointed the bat toward the direction.

"Woah, woah!" He waved his arms in calming down manner but I did not lower the bat. I thought he was a threat and I could tell he was one of the men that I fought but he was different. There were no holes in his shirt nor dirt. He had big gages on both of his ears and his face was clean and smooth. His hair was also neat, unlike the others. He had a large tattoo on his neck that I couldn't distinguish. But he wasn't big or scary, he more around my age it seems. He was tall and...

"I saw that you ambushed my friends there." I saw his mouth move but no word processed through my brain. Time felt like it was slowing down.

"Hey? You okay?" He lifted my chin up gently. Forcing my eyes to look into his. An illuminating light in his eyes that glints as he looked at me. Our heads were closed and at the corner of his mouth, his smile awakens something in me. My heart starts racing, pounding out of my chest and soon I feel a muscle in my face move. His breath smells of spearmint and overall his scent draws me forward.

I blinked out of my trance and I pushed him away, hard. Who was this strange man? Why is he touching me!?

"Your leg," He wanted to help with the wound but he didn't complete the motion.

I hadn't even notice the blood streaming down.

"The name's Leo." He chuckled nervously and put his hand out. I felt so provoked and confused. I didn't know what to come of this. He waved at my eyes and I can see that he was ducking his head. I avoided eye contact regardless to anyone I meet, but I especially avoided him.

He reached for my hand with the bat still dangling from my fingers and in my response, I knocked him down to the ground, pointing the bat towards his chest.

"It was your friends that ambushed me." I corrected with a precise tone, looking down at his startled face. Both of his hands were up, either to surrender or ready to distract and disarm me.

"I didn't mean to take your bat, I..., I wanted to shake hands!" He cried out. I guess he took the initiative, but I didn't take it that way.

My eyes looked around and I saw that a herd of men were coming this way from the direction of the kingdom. It was like the men I had just encountered. If I ran back into the forest would I make it out alive? There was no time to decide I just had to go.

I sprinted in the opposite direction of the castle, bringing the bat with me.

"Wait!" His voice haunted me. But there was no time to look back. His voice also made me stumble up, making my already bleeding wounds bleed even more. I hit the ground and my body lands on a rock. Bolts of pain shoot up to me, making me groan. My broken skin is spotted with blood, especially on my leg. I get up quick but my leg's starting to interfere with my running. I start limping and I can't continue much longer. My speed deteriorates slowly and the last thing I saw was black.
