It is so hot outside. Why in the world did I want to walk home from school? Oh yeah, it's because I don't have my drivers license yet or my permit. I've been putting off getting one because I had to focus in school and learning how to drive was putting a little too much on my plate. Especially when I spend all day studying to pass my classes, but enough with the complaining. It was summer break and I'm not going to spend my summer complaining and whining like a baby. It's time to relex and enjoy this time off of school while I have it because school is stressful enough. "Hi Mark!"
I turned to my right as soon as I heard my name. I saw my neighbor's 7 year old daughter waving in my direction. "Oh, hi Karmin." I gave her a great big smile. It's a good thing she called me because I would have walked right pass my house. I didn't notice how close I was to it over all my excitement for summer. "What are you doing," she asked while smiling. She's always so happy and joyful all the time and I couldn't help but smile. "I'm just about to go home and say hi to my family before I head back out to the beach." "You know you're home is right here right?" "Of course I do. I was just distracted a little that's all." "Oh ok. You're head was in the clouds like an airplane." Wow. She was spot on for a 7 year old. Plus good comparison. "So," she said smile wide, "can I please go with you to the beach? I don't want to stay home all day and I want to play and build sandcastle. Please!"
She looked so adorable and how could I say no. "Ok. You can come, but first let me ask your parents and see if it's ok. Ok?" "It's ok. My mom said it was. I asked her earlier." "So you asked her could you go to the beach with me before I told you I was even going to the beach. Nice try kid. You're not getting off that easily." She is sweet and adorable, but she can be really sneaky at times if you don't keep an eye on her carefully. A year ago she tricked me into buying her candy before dinner because her "mom" said she can have some. Later I find out she never said that. Sneaky little girl. "Fine Mark. Go ask her and I'll get ready." She haven't even said yes yet and she's getting ready. Like seriously.
"Ok. I'll see you in a little bit. I have to get ready first and say hello to my family first before I ask her. Ok?" She had already skipped off to her house. She probably didn't hear a word I said. I started to head to my house and I opened the front door. "Duck!!!" I here someone yell. I look up and before I could react something really hard hit my face. The force knocked me down on my rear end. I instantly got a headache. "What the hell," I screamed out and looked up to see my two younger brothers. "What the hell is going on and what the hell is wrong with you two. I know you guys like to pull pranks, but come on Danny and John." I didn't mean to curse, but it just came out. They both stared at me for awhile before they started to apologize.
"Sorry Mark," Danny said. "We was just throwing a football back and forth for awhile, but John here can't catch a ball worth jack." John turned to him. "Hey! It's not my fault. You throw the ball way too high and hard for me to catch. Aim much?" They glared at each other. "Guys stop fighting," I said finally in an adamant tone. "Look, I don't care who fault it is. There's no ball in the house. Play outside if you want to play ball. You know the rules." "We didn't go outside because it's too hot out there. It's like 250 degrees out there. We wouldn't last a minute." I looked at Danny. "Don't be dramatic. It's not that hot outside. You can do what you want just watch where you're throwing that thing. Also, if mom and dad saw you, you would be in trouble for sure. You're lucky I'm no tattletale." "Thanks. We'll be careful," he said, then went to go pick up the ball.
I walked off from them, closing the front door behind me, and went upstairs to my room. I heard them continue playing after I was half way up the stairs. They really need to be more careful. Mom and dad must be in the backyard or out somewhere if these two are playing ball in the house. They both know they can't play ball in the house as well as I know. They might break something. I walked around the corner once I was all the way up the stairs and headed to my room. It's time to get ready to go to the beach. I'm so excited.
