"Log Date 7128. This is Peridot. Again. I've been trapped with these lumpy clumpy accursed clods for quite some time now. Since I was sent to Earth, I've... Befriended... Steven the hybrid, a servant that refuses to embrace her purpose, and some Amethyst that stayed in the ground too long. Or as Jasper would say, 'an over-cooked runt.'
Though, since the day I saved Amethyst from that malfunctioning kindergarten drill and accidentally landed in... Some sort of manner... On top of her, I've developed some sort of feeling. If she laughs, I want her to keep laughing. So I tried to make her laugh but ended up offending her, in which I apologized after the drill incident. This feeling is new and different. It's like I feel some sort of need for a close... Relationship of some sort with this defective gem-"
The recording stopped as the small green gem holding the object that let out the sound pressed the button to stop it.
She sighed frustratedly.
"I don't know. This feeling just sounds like it should be a secret," The gem, Peridot, mumbled to herself. She started to think about the feeling. Is this normal? Is there something wrong with me? Would Steven know what this was? Would Amethyst feel the same since then?
Peridot's thoughts were interrupted when there was a knock on the door.
"Peridot? You still in there?" A voice called from the outside of the bathroom. The familiar voice was Amethyst's.
"Come in," The green gem looked at the floor tiles as Amethyst slowly opened the door.
"Hey A-team! Wouldn't mind pulling that curtain over yourself, would ya?" Amethyst asked.
"Um... Why?" Peridot's eyebrow raised, clearly showing her mixed feelings of confusion and curiosity.
"Oooooh. Yeah I ate food, like how gems aren't supposed to do," Amethyst shrugged, leaning back on the door.
"And what are the results of eating 'food?'" Peridot asked.
"Exactly what Steven does when he tells you to turn around in here," Amethyst giggled, like it was obvious. Peridot groaned and grabbed the shower curtain, completely covering herself with it. She sighed as she could only see the regular pattern of the curtain as she rested her head in the palm of her hand and continued to think about the certain feelings she was having for the strange purple defect.

"Steven! I have more information to share with you!" Peridot nearly toppled over the boy when she got her permission to leave the bathroom half an hour after her short chat with Amethyst.
"Woah, Peri! Take it easy! Is this serious?" Steven grabbed the gems shoulders and helped her balance herself.
"Very. I've developed some sort of feeling that I've never felt before and I DEMAND you help me figure out what it is," Peridot carefully glanced around the room, letting out a yelp when Amethyst was at the counter and watching them, showing barely any interest but definitely listening.
"Well? Describe it," Steven's voice made her put her attention back on him. Peridot sighed, knowing Amethyst wouldn't be leaving anytime soon. She stepped closer to Steven, casting a quick glance at the purple gem in the room before composing herself.
"This feeling is like the... Guilty feeling I had that made me feel small, only I don't know what I did wrong. I feel the need for a close companionship with the Amethyst and it's been interrupting all my thoughts of actual serious things like the Cluster and getting the drill finished," Peridot whispered to the boy. Steven's eyes lit up as he grinned.
"Peridot, you have a crush!" He whispered back, trying to keep it quiet and contain his excitement.
"Define this version of crush elsewhere," Peridot stepped back and started looking around for a good place for the two to share the information. Steven was already dragging Peridot along outside of the temple.
As he closed the doors behind him, he pulled out his phone.
"Is that a-" Peridot started. Steven cut her off.
"Only if you throw it at someone."
He started dialing the number of his friend, Connie. When she picked up, it was like Peridot was hearing one half of a conversation.
The call ended, and Steven grabbed Peridot's hand without another word and started running away from the temple.

"Connie, this is Peridot," Steven introduced the human to the gem.
"So you're the one who is causing all this alien chaos?" Connie asked, hiding her disappointment very well from the two. Connie had been expecting a gem much... Taller, rather than Steven-sized.
"It wasn't just me, and if anything you'd be expecting Yellow Diamond to be in charge of this whole thing!" Peridot snapped. Steven flicked the gem lightly.
"Peridot's capable of a lot more than what she looks like. She's got a crush on Amethyst!" Steven pat Peridot's shoulder.
"You still haven't explained that," Peridot huffed.
"Oh, Peridot! Having a crush is like liking someone a lot, and you want to be their lover," Connie explained.
"It's n-nothing like that! I'm sure, I've been taught that feelings like that aren't supposed to be experienced! S-surely it's something else?" Peridot's cheeks flushed in a deep green color. The words of Yellow Diamond echoed in her mind.
Love is rubbish. It is banned. Any gem who is distracted because of it will be sent either into exile and be transported to another planet or be simply imprisoned. It shall not be experienced, so don't you ever get too comfortable with your peers.

"Well... What kind of ways do you see Amethyst? Any.. Reactions from her you like?" Connie asked, suddenly holding a notepad and a pencil.
"She's just... A companion of some sort. Reactions? Hmm... Well quoting from log date 7128, if she laughs because of something I do or say, I want her to keep laughing. I guess... I like her laugh? And along with laugh I also like her smile, and her personality is so confusing, but I guess... I like that too?" Peridot shrugged as Connie wrote down on the notepad.
"Definitely sounds like a crush," Connie declared.
"But do I really like her or just the idea of her?" Peridot bit her thumb fretfully as she said this.
"Well, we'll see! So, wanna tell her yet?" Steven looked about ready to immediately tell Amethyst.
"NO! I don't even know if she even likes me like this at all!" Peridot started to doubt everything, making her feel even smaller. Steven and Connie exchanged glances, trying to think of something.
"I know! We should ask Garnet!" Steven exclaimed.
"Steven, that's a great idea!" Connie flipped the note page to a fresh blank page and wrote down 'Ask Garnet.'
"The perma-fusion? How can the perma-fusion help us?" Peridot asked skeptically.
"You say they're fused for no reason, but Ruby and Sapphire, the two gems that make up Garnet, are fused because they're romantically involved and never want to be apart," Steven told Peridot this in a matter-of-fact way.
"Well... What can it hurt? Let's go ask," the gem huffed and forced a smile, glad that they're at least helping her sort out her complicated problem.
