"Oh?" Garnet looked down at Amethyst and Peridot.
"Yeah! All thanks to me, you're welcome, I got Peridot to understand Rose's intentions and stuff like that but she's not sure how to ask you to join just like that," Amethyst grinned. Peridot chuckled nervously behind Amethyst, not sure how the fusion would react.
"If I fell off a cliff would you try to save me?" Garnet asked, her gaze resting on Peridot.
"If you didn't want to be saved, I'd still retrieve you to safety no matter what you say," Peridot answered, hoping her response wasn't the wrong one.
"And if Steven was cornered by enemies?" Garnet gestured to the boy beside her.
"I'd draw the enemy's attention towards myself so Steven could escape."
"And if Amethyst cracked her gem?"
Peridot whimpered the moment that the words escaped Garnet's lips. The thought that Amethyst would ever be hurt like that was heart breaking, devastating even.
"Stop whatever I'm doing the moment I know what's happened and take her to... The fountain she mentioned, before she..." Peridot didn't have the heart to finish her sentence. Beside her, Amethyst was smiling, flattered that Peridot was dedicated.
"One last one. If you had a choice, would you join back with homeworld or stay with us?" Garnet's last question took Peridot's mind off of the possibility of Amethyst becoming cracked.
"I'd stay with you. I am no longer loyal to Yellow Diamond," Peridot said firmly.
Garnet nodded and smiled. "I think she'll make a fine Crystal Gem."
"ALRIGHT POQUITO!" Amethyst shouted and wrapped her arms around Peridot in a hug. Peridot couldn't stop herself from blushing, and threw her tiny hands onto her face in an attempt to hide it. Steven joined in with the hug, exclaiming in triumph.
"This needs a celebration or something like that! Oh man, imagine when we get Lapis and maybe even Jasper on the team!" Steven grinned.
"You might want to hold the thought of Jasper joining anytime soon. She's difficult when it comes to changes that she doesn't want to make I'll tell you that," Peridot shrugged, taking her hands off her face with now only a faint blush.
"Aw just get her on the team the same way you got the friendship of that other blue gem, dude!" Amethyst shape shifted into Lapis Lazuli to show which gem she meant. Peridot stared in awe, and walked behind Amethyst to see that there was a tear drop shape, rather than a gem, where the Lazuli's gem is.
"Looks like Peridot's a little bewildered by how far your shape shifting abilities go, Amethyst," Garnet's voice became a little firm when she said this.
"I- ah ha... Yeah I can shift into a lot of things, definitely not to bribe someone into doing something for me eh..." Amethyst laughed nervously, looking at Peridot and Steven to get some sort of support. She looked around for a third face but couldn't find it.
"Hey, where's Connie?" Amethyst asked, shape shifting back into her normal self.
"She had to go do tennis practice. Never fails as some sort of help with her sword fighting skills!" Steven answered.
Garnet walked back inside, deciding that what needed to be taken care of about Peridot is taken care of.
"Well, we should tell Pearl!" Steven threw his arms in the air.
"Yeah, wherever she is right now," Amethyst rolled her eyes, but she still smiled.
"She's probably working... On the... Drill... THE DRILL! I FORGOT!" Peridot shouted. She didn't know how she forgot. Ugh, Amethyst! I can't stop thinking about her that I forgot about the Cluster altogether!
"YEAH I'D loVE TO CHAT BUT I HAVE A DRILL TO GET BACK TO WORK ON! SEE YOU SOMETIME AFTER THE STAR IS HALFWAY SHOWN ACROSS THE OCEAN BYE!" Peridot shouted as she sprinted off towards the barn. She silently cursed herself for letting Amethyst cloud her thoughts. The green gem panted as she arrived to the destination.
"About time you showed up," Pearl said from atop the drill, trying to figure out how to fix it since the incident broke it down.
"My apologies, Pearl. I was thinking about... Other things," Peridot was already climbing up the drill to help out.
"Something on your mind other than this Cluster we're dealing with, hm?" Pearl raised an eyebrow and glanced at Peridot.
"Nothing homeworld related, if that's what you're thinking," Peridot grumbled. She looked at the fusebox that Pearl was working with. "What's the problem here?" Peridot asked, changing the subject.
"Oh, the wires here are all difficult. I know I've fixed up Greg's van before but that was human wires and more replacing and rebuilding parts," Pearl huffed.
"Let me see," Peridot crouched in front of the fuse box and examined the wires. "Well that goes there... This is supposed to go here... Should be connected to that..." Peridot tinkered with the wires to get them all in the right place.
Suddenly, the screen inside the drill lightened up, with the options off, self-destruct, and drill on it.
"Well what do you know, you did it!" Pearl smiled.
"Now that we have the drill all fixed up, we can work on the structure now, correct?" Peridot tilted her head. Pearl nodded and went back to the barn (hA-) to look back at the blueprints. Peridot, however, frowned.
"Just another step towards meeting certain doom..."(A/N
