People say it would be cool to be a ghost, but I would have to disagree with you because it sucks. My name is Caleb and I'm a ghost. I'm sure you're thinking I'm dead or something, but actually I'm not. I'm in a coma. Here I am walking around in the hospital while my real body is laying on the hospital bed in room 222. At first it was scary. I would run down the halls trying to get people's attention, but they couldn't hear me. I could even walk right through them, but soon it became old and days would go by, then weeks, then months. I always thought I'd be alone forever or at least until I would wake up from the coma, but I was wrong. One day i was doing my usual walk when I heard someone yell. It sounded like a girl's voice, but I couldn't understand what they said, but I don't care. I started running in the direction that the voice had come from. As I got closer to the the voice I knew that I was right. It was a girl. I could now understand what she was saying too. She was yelling at the doctors and other patients trying to get their attention just has i had done when I had thought I had woken up, but then to find out I was a ghost. I turned down the last corner then stopped. There she was looking around continuously trying to find someone that can see her. Then she stopped and locked eyes with me. We both asked, "Can you see me?" at the same time. We stayed like that for about a minute then she all of a sudden came running at me, but before I could react she gave me a giant hug. I was surprised but relieved that I finally had someone to talk to.
She finally let go and said, " My name is Bess. What's your name?""My name is Caleb. Are you a ghost like me?'
"Yes? I think I am because no one can hear me. Why are you a ghost?"
"I'm in a coma. What about you? Why are you a ghost?"
" I don't know. I thought I was awake, but when I called for help no one came. Then I got up and walked around trying to get people's attention, but it was like they couldn't hear me."
"Do you know what room you're in?"
"Yes. Room 200."
"Ok. Thats right down the hall and to the right. By my room. Let's go."
I took the lead and kept glancing back to make sure she was still behind me. I could tell she was a lot calmer than when I found her, but their was still something off about her. We turned down the last hall and stopped in front of her room. There she was lying down on the hospital bed in room 200. She had a bunch of machines attached to her and a neck brace. I turned toward her."What happened?"
"I don't remember"
"Ok. Let's go look at the report."
I walked over to the edge of the bed with Bess right behind me and picked up the report. I had just enough time to read it before a doctor came in and screamed. She saw that the report was floating. I quickly placed it back and backed up.
Bess asked, "So what happened to me?""It said that you fell from the roof of your school. Do you remember now?"
"A Little bit, but I don't remember why I was up there though."
It's Ok you remember, and while we wait I'll give you a tour of the place. Ok?"
Yeah. That sounds great." She gave me a half smile. I took the lead once again and lead her down the long halls with doors opened and closed. Every once and awhile I'd see her peer through the doors that are open. I showed her the waiting room to see if anyone she knows is there, because visiting hours is over for the day. She couldn't recognise anyone that was there.
When it was getting about dark I asked, "Did you want to head back to you're room to sleep for a while or did you want to talk?"
"I think I'm gonna go to sleep or at least try to."
"Ok I'll come get you in the morning or do you think you can find your way?"
"I think I should be able to find my way, but thanks anyways." She said with a smile.
"No problem. Night."
"Night" Later that night I heard a sound, but I couldn't identify what it was. It was probably just my imagination or at least I thought it was until I heard the same noise again, but this time I know what it is. I've heard it so many times before since this is a hospital. It was the sound of a code red. Someone was dying. I thought to myself, no need to go look who it was since I'm alone anyways, but as soon as it popped in my mind it left. Their is someone here that is a ghost too. I jump up from the floor and sprinted down to the room Bess is in. There she was laying on the hospital bed with at least a dozen doctors around her. Wait... There's something above her! It looks kinda like us, but instead it has a yellowish glow to it and it was getting closer and closer to her.
I ran toward it and yelled, "Stay away from her!" The ghost thing stopped and turned its head toward me, but then went back to doing whatever it was doing to her. I kept running to it and when I got to it I grabbed its arm, but when I did it disappear. The life monitor showed that she had a pulse and was breathing now. I walked to a chair on the far side of the room and when I got there I noticed there was an envelope on the chair, but it wasn't a normal envelope. This one had the same glow to it like the ghost that tried to kill Bess. I opened the envelope. It read:Because you have stopped me from doing my job you owe me a favor, but I will not ask for it now, but when I do you have no choice, but to do as I ask or else...
Love,
Grim
